I have a 95 Toyota Lucida that has large amounts of water leaking out of what I am told is the heater drain off pipe and am having to fill the water tank evey time it's used, can you tell me what you think the problem could be

  • Anonymous May 09, 2010

In fact we have found out what the problem is, it took contacting Toyota to get on the right track. In the heater there is a second smaller radiator, we purchased a second hand internal radiator and had it fitted, and now we are all good again

Rain water leak will pond on either passenger or driver side depends on how its parked. was told to tape off cowl vent that didn't work. this happens when parked its on a 2006 jeep wrangler golden

Rainwater body leaks can be a nightmare to locate and I have many times needed to remove seats and carpets and lay inside with a flashlight while an assistant played a hose on various parts of the outside...

You could be luckier.
Water usually doesn't run uphill but a leak can travel quite a distance along body seams or behind trim or under carpets before manifesting in a pool - often a significant pool of water in a footwell can amount to only a couple of drips each minute and not a flood so patience is needed...

Apart from such obvious sources as sunroof drains, roof aerial attachment, failing windscreen bonding, one of the most common causes is blocked heater air intake drains. Much of my time servicing vehicles has been spent removing dead leaves from the heater intakes before they cause trouble...

Good luck!

95' toyota 4 runner, just had intake gasket replaced. That seemed to be the source of the leak on the back of the engine. Drive for 2 days and it is leaking again but not from the same spot. Can't find out...

Hello, there is a coolant transfer pipe under the intake manifold, it connects to the front of the block under the manifold and exits at the rear between the heads where two hoses are attached for the heater and one for the throttle body, one of these may be leaking, in some cases the transfer pipe is rusted and starts to leak filling up the chamber between the heads until it leaks out at the back.

Water leaks on my feet when sharp turns

make sure drain tube for ac condensation is not stopped up, usually comes thru firewall under hood, cant think of any other water inside of car. Heater core leak would be antifreeze.

No heat from the heater, then the car overheated and was leaking water out of the thermostat housing.

1. the heater always fails first when you lose water.
hence you suffered large amount of water loss.
causes,
first check for any leaks = fix
thermostat stuck closed = replace
electric fan failed, check switch is working
then
CHECK THE HIGHT OF THE HEATER MATRIX IN THE CAB , IF ITS HIGHER THAN THE FILLER/EXPANSION TANK. THEN ITS AN AIR LOCK, LOOK FOR THE HIGHEST PIPE AND SEE IF THERE IS A BLEED VALVE, IF NOT TAKE BOTH PIPES OFF THE MATRIX FEEDS AND FLUSH OUT TO SEE IF IT IS BLOCKED, AND RECONNECT LOWEST PIPE FIRST AND FILL SYSTYM TILL WATER APPEAR FROM TOP AND RECONNECT RUN MOTOR, AND KEEP TOPIN UP

95 Dakota overheats

the black chunks could possibly be from someone putting a stop leak solution into the radiator first drain the coolant system fill up with clean water put in some Prestone 10 minute flush and then drain and put in a flush tee in the heater hose not the one going to the water pump but the one going to the engine block open up the drain hose and run water through until clear and refill with new antifreeze and make sure car runs until all air bubbles are out and then replace the cap

Coolant leak

Hello **** B. First double check the hose connection for the leak, it can drain to another connection & appear to leak there. Second, yes there is a gasket on the pipe connection to the block. To replace the gasket, park the car in a location for least 5 to 6 hours to cool down mabe longer. Have the gasket replacement, a tube of gasket sealant, 2 gallons of antifreeze, a drain bucket, and a very large rag or rags. Remove the hose, catch the fluid in bucket, remove the pipe, clean the old gasket area, apply gasket sealent, attache gasket, mount the pipe, tighten all mounting bolts a 1/2 to 3/4 turn each until torqued downed evenly, and attache hose. Fill reservoir, with radiator cap off, start engine and add coolant to radiator until full and you see fluid flowing. Apply cap & check for leaks. Easy???????? Good Luck.
