Can t find where the thermostat is located on a golf gti mkiii 2.0 litre

all modern cars are 180 to 200f. the service manuals cover this.
but no year car told
no country told
so can;t read it to you.

Usually it locate at the end of upper water hose of the engine.

Either immobiliser is not reading the key or need to reprogram keyfob.

follow top radiator hose to motor, at motor that should be your thermostat housing, pull 2 bolts out holding it @ remove housing, thermostat is under, replace thermostat exactly as you removed it, you will need a new gasket also.

on lower hose

check cam and crankshaft sensors

Firing order-1.3.4.2.The distributor turns clockwise.Only one wire going from central plug of a disrtibutor to the coil pack.Cylinder 1 is on a front of the engine/not on a gearbox side/

Hello, My 2000 2.0 Golf just recently had the same problem. I would feel the ABS pump working at certain times through the accelerator pedal. I found the right rear sensor failed the Bentley manual continuity test . After removing it I found it was pretty rusted. The sensor head is located inside the rear brake disc hub area and this probably explained this rust. The rust probably worked its way into the sensor body where you can't clean it and thus the resistance value went above specification. I ordered mine through Autohaus and cost me just over $50.00 for both rear sensors. Even though my drivers side was good I replaced it at the same time. The ABS light hasn't been on for 4 days now..

a GTI has to have turbo and intercooler to be called a GTI.
So, all GTI's have turbo

try changeing the detent device ontop of the gear box. it is a 24 nut when u open it there will be a ball and spring attached to the other side. it is located ju8st behind the gear selcator on the very top of the gear box
