My car starts and then sputters and die

YOU CANT REPLACE THE LIGHT YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE SEAT AS IT IS ONE FUNCTION.

yes ballast is on the bottom of the headlight capsule. remove and note 4 torx heads

I have a 2004 infiniti sedan g35... the pass side seat does not

i just fixed this problem - the switch is bad - take out the seat - 4 bolts on the bottom 4 corners and then remove the whole switch - either buy a new one around $200 or unsauter the switch and clean it but be careful as there are a lot of parts inside that can fall out. i cleaned mine and it works fine beats spending the money.

Your idle air control valve sounds like it is failing. This is basically a solenoid that actuates at idle to allow air for proper combustion and maintain idle.

Have you replaced the fuel filter yet? You should be going on your 3rd by now. If that is not the problem, take it by Advance Auto or Auto Zone, and have them run a diagnostic. Spark plugs, spark plug wires, throttle position sensor, oxygen sensor, etc.... should about cover any eventuality.
