Most likely cause is your battery is dying. The clicking is generally a sign the voltage is too low to engage the starter. That ist started up with a jump indicates the starter is good and most likely cause is the battery. Take it to Walmart to be tested (they do this for free in hopes of selling you a new battery). They have decent batteries for reasonable prices and because they can be found almost anywhere they are a great place to buy a battery because they are always nearby if you need warranty return for the new battery.

I have a 1998 dodge ram van, the windshield wipers stopped working, the fuse is ok and the washers work ok. all other functions of the switch work properly. How can you test the wiper motor and wiper

Make up a set of jumper wires that will accommodate the wiper connectors and run an auxiliary ground wire to be sure it is not a ground problem and then jump power directly the power lead connectors on the motor.

CAR SAT UP FOR A YEAR AND NOW WON'T RAISE UP OR WIPERS AND LOCKS NOT WORKING NEEDED TO JUMP START WHEN STARTED UP AGAIN.

This sounds to me like a possible fuse has blown when you jump started your vehicle. If a the fuses are ok, and the locks and windshield wipers are ok, then it is probably a relay, they are small black boxes with circuits inside them. Most wipers are on fuses and relays, and either one can make them not work. Hope this helps.

Service advance trac light on & car won't start

Similar issue on my 2013 taurus. Died on me one day and wouldn't even crank. Advancetrac Service, 911 assist unavailable, sometimes braking system faults and just about every light on the dash illuminated. No codes. The problem was the Run/Start relay (Start/Run??). Swapped it with the windshield wiper relay to verify. Car started but the wipers didn't work. Replaced the Relay for $25 from AutoZone.

Battery seems to be ok but engine will not start. I hear a chattering sound (somewhat like an automatic rifle) after the battery first tries to start the engine. I do not think the battery is bad - -...

Many times the battery can run everything but not start the car. If you can jump start it and it starts then it is the battery. Go to one of the autoparts stores, like advanced, and get it checked to confirm. They will also usually change it for you while you are there if it is bad.

I was driving home and had put 40 dollars worth in and did not use it all. my jeep 's check engine light came on and the gas gauge dropped to E? No reason to do this have gas and no other warnings. Help...

Those two problems might be related or not. The first thing to do is to hook up your vehicle to a Code Scaner.Getting the Code and Code explanation would be a good starting point. Autozone can do this job for free, the dealers charge $ 65 to $75 for a Check and Advice. Hope this will help as long as you and me do not have any clue YET.

the alternator charges the battery so if that happens then your alternator is bad but if you jump it and it works for sometime then i guess ur battery is bad so change the battery

Lights come on. I hear one crank but car won't start

Will the wipers work with the key in the run position? If not, it's the battery. Try a jump start. If the battery's ok you need to measure volts and amps at the starter to check for clean connections and internal failures.
