2003 Toyota Matrix won't start. No click when we try to start it. Dash lights come one. Interior lights and head lights work. Alarm sets and works. We opened and closed all the doors. Tried charging the battery and nothing happens. It is like the alarm has gone off and we can't start the car. Is there an immobilizer?
Yes theres is, try locking and unlocking the pass/side door with the key. you can check for power at the starter at the small wire if theres power at that wire when the key is held in the crank position then you have a bad starter try taping on starter while key is held in start if its starts when tapping then starter is bad,heres a diagram to show you were to tap and where to check for power, hope this helps.
You are truly a Toyota Master. I did the locking and unlocking passenger door recommendation (yes, I have a Toyota installed alarm system) and it solved my problem. My car is a 2004 XRS with 130K miles on it and this is the FIRST time this problem has appeared on my car. Thank you. You saved me a tow and a repair charge at the dealer.

Sounds like it may be a starter issue. but try this first put the car in neutral and try to start then put in park and try. if nothing hapends put a test light to the small connector on the starter and check for power when the key is turnned if you have power the starter is bad
