See if any garages or auto parts stores will do an error code check. O'Reillys in my town does it for free and usually takes less than 15 minutes. One of the sensors seems to be getting a bad reading and the error code will tell you which one.

Have you checked the brake switch? It is located under the drives side of the dash mounted on the brake pedal lever. There should be power on one of the wires a.l the time. The other wire should have power with the pedal depressed. It is not uncommon for the wires to brake at the switch.

have all the wiring checked.there are alot of wires disconnected in a transmission removal.
alot of technicians are not careful enough and ground wires get broken,or not hooked up again to properly cleaned terminals.

check for 12 volts at the switch if yes then check for 12 volts coming out the switch with the pedal depressed

check the fluid level in the master cyl

remove dash and replace bulbs. if you are handy and remenber where the screws go you be ok

It sounds like the shifter lock out solenoid has gone bad.It is a solenoid that releases the shifter when you push the brake pedal.
