Could be EGR valve is dirty/binding. Contaminated Evaporitive cannister causing rich condition on start or even choke binding causing rich mixture.

Hi, sounds like it is being effected by heat, often a spark module will degrade when it gets hot so the problem may be intermitent, they are often not to expencive so you can either replace it and see how it goes or test it but i would advise that a mechanic tests it as you are dealing with fatal amounts of current..

I have a 89 toyota extra cab pickup with v6. it needs tranny. what years will interchange? going to swap for working tranny from private owner. where to start.

i thinks it will swap with a 89 to 95, possible a 96 will work. the identification label on the inside of the door will have your tranny listed. g58, w56, w59 and r150f. something like that, find another like it and your good to go.

My 89 toyota pickup 22re fuel injected serges when idling when its warmed up

The Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) may need cleaning or replacement.

This valve lets air bypass the throttle plate so that the engine can idle. The more air, the faster the idle. If this valve is sticky, the computer may have a hard time regulating the idle properly and may surge.

My 89 Toyota pickup idles too fast in cold weather

I would have a look at your coolant sensor, if it's reading the wrong temperature, it will cause a idle problem. If you can, get a scanner on it to verify it's operation.
