Hello i have a 1990 safari which the heater and the AC just quit. but right now i smell burning wires. please help.

Yes. The heater core is leaking bad. The white smoke is the coolant and steam. Be sure to add water to the radiator before you burn up the engine.

its a small leak in your heater core try keeping a eye on coolant level, and there are a lot of sealers out on the market ,I cant figure why on a 2 year old car its also possible one of the hoses supplying it are leaking in car or right where hose goes in to firewall . im really hoping some of this helped you. if you ask other questions PLEASE give year make model and motor size.

Get out your owners manual and locate the power relay for the AC and remove it, this will stop the AC clutch from engaging the compressor, note, AC is used in winter to help remove moisture when defrost is on you may have to roll window down to prevent fogging, also check for blown fuse in manual bet you find one for instrument cluster, good luck,Bret

have an accredited ac shop as an ac cannot produce hot air only cold air so that means that the ac is not working (leaks low on gas etc). The hot air is from the heater in the car and the smell is probably wire overheating or the resistors are burning.

Could have been the resistor or the blower motor. It was probably a burning wire smell.
Check the blower motor for power and ground.

blower resistor is common to burn causeing smell. check with dealer, there may be a campain on this problem. if not. replace resistor and harness (pig tail) and blower motor..

please open hood and look round is every thing fit and look perfectly or not
for safty purpose
if every thing undercontrol
then
first of all please replace ac filter which located below dashbord
then let as know if u still gettieng smell or not

go to the ac fan resistor first - then check the fan itself (put 12 v), remove climate control and check plug for shortage-melted wires

First thing is to chk. fuse. If fuse is ok than there is 2 other things that could be bad, like the motor burnt up, did you smell anything when it did run? Like wires burning? If you did than the motor needs replaced. If not than its the heater motor resister thats bad and needs replaced, the resister controls the motor speeds and makes the heater motor run too.

you will need to get the blower motor change , it is drawing to much current and causing the wires to get hot
