Fuel door will not open; I cannot get the the fuel door open to put gas in it. None of the release buttons are working. I hear a click each time but the door remains closed even the one in the trunk is not opening it. Trunk opens and all other buttons work.

Same issue. Neither solenoid nor manual pull cord open fuel door unless a small wedge is used to open the door if either is activated. There is NO ice or snow involved. The trip mechanism is operating freely. The door does NOT "spring" out thus I suspect the defect lies there but without an actual shop manual -- chilton and the like are totally useless in this area -- one cannot see the level of detail needed to further diagnose the problem so we are heading to the junk yard on Tuesday to investigate similar vehicles.

There is another release in the right rear passenger side of the trunk. A little WD-40 on the latch will help.

To manuelly open 2003 Maxima gas filler door

I'm having this problem with my 2003 nissan maxima. I keep the driver side door open and keep my hand at the edge where the fuel door hinge is, and reache the button with a screwdriver or pen, and as it press the button, I push on the fuel door panel and it comes out. I'm going to replace the fuel door sooner or later. It all looks kinda dumb at the gas station.

Cant open the latch to get gas into the car/. it is locked. how do you open the latch without ripping it off

What year and model is your car? Can you hear the gas door trying to release when you pull the lever or push the switch? A lot of cars have a manual release inside the trunk. Open up the trunk and pull back the carpet on the side of the fuel door to see if there's a release. It's usually just a cable with a little plastic handle. If you don't have one of these, you can get a really small screwdriver, put it in the fuel door and give it slight outward pressure while someone else is trying to release it from inside the car. When you do this, wrap a rag around the screwdriver to prevent damage to the paint.

Good Luck!

Fuel door and truck release fuse

I had the same problem last fall and had my mechanic check all fuses, he could not find the problem. Later my son was in the glove box and then I remembered the valet button disables the trunk and gas door so the person parking your car cannot snoop in your trunk or get to your gas cap. push the valet button in the glove box and see if you can release the trunk and gas door. Hope this works for you, it can be a pain opening the trunk every time you want to put gas in the car....good luck...........

Press button fuel door won't open, can hear click

try using the manual release lever on the upper left side in the trunk. If it still won't open then the door may be jammed.

Gas Tank door stuck

Try having a second person pull on the door as you press the button, and also listen by the door to see if you can hear the release latch working. Also, open your trunk, and on the same side as your gas tank will be a little pull handle as an emergency release for your fuel door. It may be behind the trunk liner, but usualy they are easily accessable. and if you have any other problems, refer to the owner's manual to locate the release.
