Serpentine belt replacement for 1996 ford crown victoria

All you will need is a 3/4 inch ratchet. The job is very simple on this car

NO YOU DONT HAVE TO REMOVE BELT TENSIONER.ALL YOU NEED IS A 1/2 BREAKER BAR PLACE BREAKER BAR ADAPTER END INTO 1/2 ADAPTER HOLE IN BELT TENSIONER THEN ROTATE BELT TENSIONER AWAY FROM BELT TO RELEASE BELT TENSION ENOUGH TO REMOVE DRIVE BELT.

Your local parts store should have a belt routing diagram in their serpentine belt catalog. I know for a fact that NAPA and Carquest can provide you with this.

Possibly the serpentine belt,has it been 30,000 miles since you replaced it? Check it for cracks

this car does not have a timing belt! its a chain ! 2 timing chains ! normally at 100.00 0 miles you will hear them making noise

You can not tighten the belt, it is held on by the Belt tensioner...it's located a little to the left side of the waterpump...now it maybe getting weak, or your belt may need to be replaced...Sometimes they look good, with no cracks, but they get worn and streched out over time..or it may look shiny..either one of those will cause it too squeak..

These diagrams are somewhere under your hook, but in any event MAP yours paying particular attention to v grooves up or down (Front of belt or back) and just map it count the pulleys and draw them on paper, then draw the snake through them...

You wil be amazed how long the belt is.

Sounds like someone rigged this when replacing the belt previously. The 'old school' way would be to unbolt the compressor to slide on the belt.
