Bolt size needed to fit 04 Odyssey Frame for hitch?

If the frame is not square then you need to shim the bolts. The installers are looking at a direct replacement but the bolt holes are not lining up. If not lined up properly there will be extra stress on the bolts. If you are hauling light loads it should not be a problem. Notching the holes in the frame should make it fit but the load limit will be altered.

Your best bet is to go to the reese hidden hitch web site, (google it)and look them both up. If it's the same number, it's the same hitch.

try your power steering pump first if that aint it when you go to take that bolt out take the engine mount bolt off the side your working on so you can lower or raise the motor as you need to get the bolt out

Buy one from Uhaul or another company or a used part from the salvage yard. You can get these cheap. They are premade to fit over existing holes in the frame. Should be 4 - 6 bolts.

I had a similar problem with an 88 F250. Measure the tire height with tire standing, then measure space between hitch and measure frame from same place.
If the space between the frame would allow the tire to fit without the hitch, you need a wider hitch. If your current hitch has room for the tire you are all set.
Usually a heavier class hitch will have wider mounting points, but be aware that access to put in bolts may require you to weld the hitch to the truck.

I checked the Reese site, and there is one available #77167 Insta-Hitch 1 which is a class 1 rating, drawbar #3594. Keep in mind that your Elantra is limited to towing 750 lbs WITHOUT trailer brakes, and up to 1500 lbs WITH trailer brakes. The installation of the hitch claims to be 'no drilling' but the exhaust system must be lowered for installation (then returned to position), and some 'trimming' of the cars fascia must be done. Take into consideration the terrain you intend to drive through. If there will be a lot of hills, you will struggle to accelerate, and braking w/out trailer brakes on long hills will overheat and reduce your stopping ability. Remember to figure in weight of passengers, luggage, and anything you put in or on the trailer, car roof rack etc. Good luck, and safe travel to you. Curt

I have the same vehicle. Go to Ford dealer and buy the trailer hitch which replaces the regular rear end. It took me about two hours to install and I have towed a heavy trailer several times now with no problem. Because this is a unitized body/frame vehicle, it would be unwise to try to weld a generic hitch on. The Ford hitch fits right on to existing bolt holes. You have to cut a small square notch in the center of the plastic rear bumper for the hitch to stick out.

It should have. If not a reputable hitch like Reese or Hidden Hitch will come with nut plates. Hope this helps.
