2008 pontiac g5,abs light after tried to move in snow , low traction light came with abs but tracton light went off and abs light stays on. can abs freeze up

2. Any other problems arising?
3. Have you scanned the OBD system for fault codes?

It is safe to drive. You need a scan tool to get a code out of it. Could be as simple as a wheel speed sensor going bad. All of these lights will work together normally. The traction control uses the ABS to gain traction, and the Brake Assist System is part of the stability control. Also uses the ABS.

Hello: You need to have your car's ads system interrogated with a scanner to see what codes show, then from the codes you can diagnose and repair the problem.

If you are still stuck in the driveway, that's why the ABS light is still on. Get a snow shovel and dig the car out. Once you get the car on the road and all the wheels are turning the same speed the ABS light will most likely go off. It doesn't hurt anything to drive the car with the ABS light on. What that light is telling you is, the "Antilock Brake System" (ABS) is not working. The brakes will still work but, the antilock portion will not, so when you hit a icy patch, the wheels can lock during braking. The ABS senses the speed of all the wheels and if you have been spinning the wheel in the snow, it throws the system out of sychronization. Once you get out of the snow and you start to drive the light will go off, if the system is in working order. The light should go off in a block or two, if not stop the car shut the engine off and restart it. Try it again and see if the goes off, if not there's a problem with the system, get it to a shop.

Chances are it is a bad ABS sensor. Need to get scanned to know for sure and which one.

It may have pushed one of you sensor back away from your tone wheel its a common problem,all you have to do is push the sensor back againts your wheel and it will set itself,I hope this helps you and thanks

Have the ABS system scanned for codes. The ABS and Traction control use the same computer. You likely have a bad wheel speed sensor.

A common cause for a Traction light is a faulty front ABS wheel speed sensor or harness. When the Anti lock brake computer sees a problem in the ABS syetm, it disables traction control as well.

You are loosing power Because the Computer is Shifting the Transmission in to Traction Low to get out of the Situation. The ABS Light is coming on due to Wheel spin. It is telling you that there has been an Unexpected Incident and to slow down.

An ABS sensor DOES affect the traction control system. Traction control uses these sensors to determine if a wheel is losing traction. A bad sensor will cause both the ABS and TRACTION lights to come on.
The CHECK ENGINE light however is going to be a seperate problem.
