This sounds similar to the problem I have had with my Montero Sport. I was having charging problems as well as poor performance. I had a wiring harness feeding the alternator and spark plugs replaced. Since then these problems have gone away...and I've been dealing with the alternator problem for a long, long time.

Hope this helps.

Check all cables to the starter and the ground or negative cable from the battery to the engine or frame. They get old and break down between the insulation and you wont get enough current to start the car

Starter just clicks, new battery new starter, old starter proved to be ok.

Did you clean the battery cable terminals good? If the starter clicks, and its a new unit, zounds like full battery power is not reaching the starter. Recheck connections from battery to starter. Just possible, too, that corrosion has gotten into the battery cables-that will create high resistance to current flow. At this point, a mechanic would bring out a multi-meter and do a voltage drop test if all connections and grounds are good. The click sounds like the ignition switch is energizing the starter solenoid, so it should mate large amps from the battery cable to the starter motor.

Find why voltage is low to startet To a toyota tundra95

Could be a # of things. First is the battery up to doing the job? If you have a voltage meter test to make sure you have close to 12V across the battery then turn on headlights voltage should not drop more than about 1 volt. If so battery most likely is OK. Dirty battery cables will be the next thing to look for. Are the terminals clean & corrosion free at the battery? If you have found no problem so far your starter may need to be replaced. Do you have the ability to use jumper cables & jumper it from another battery?
If you can jump start it or put a battery charger on it & git it started again you can test voltage across the battery. with car running you should have about 14V if 12.5V or less you need a new alternator.

My 87 jeep starter stays ingaged when I try to start it

needs shimmed or the bendix is bad in the starter and not allowing to release. most likely just needs shimmed if it's a new starter, however you can get a bad starter (new or rebuilt)

06 pontiac grand prix wont start no clicking when you turn the key over even jump starting the battery, has dash lights & radio & parking lights. battery tested good. put a used starter & altinator on

Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.

My car will not start. I thought it was the battery because it startet to take a while to turn over and then it didnt turn over and i started it with another battery but i had to hold the key for a while...

It's most definitely the starter. Have it replace and when you do, check the wiring. If this was at all helpful, please rate. Thanks for asking.

1983 k-5 chevy blazer.new alternator & battery. terminal wires year old, but clean. year old starter. wile driving, dim dashboard & headlights. battery gauge needle on dash pointing into orange.

I recommend getting an actual voltage, ampres check to see what the alternator is putting out, volts and amps. You should be able to get the charging, battery load test and the starter draw all tested together. That's where I would start.

Starter sometimes does not ingage

Could be several things. As this is a 1991 car you are probably going to need a new starter. The brushes on the starter motor are probably worn out. A weak battery is also the probable cause for not engaging or the starter is just worn out. If you hear a clicking sound but the starter won't do anyting then its the battery. If the starter tries to engage but wont turn the engine over then you'll need a new starter.

1997 chev tahoe, starter was working fine, Came back to tahoe and tried to start it, starter does not do anything, all ticks and lights on dash sound normal, thought it was starter. put on new starter same...

You need to try and jump start the vehicle and see if it will start. It sounds like your battery is bad to me. The interior lights are not a good indication of battery conditon, because a starter can pull somewhere between 30-50 amps draw from the battery, where the interior lights may draw 2-3 amps.
Also check your battery terminals for condition. Baking soda and water solution will clean off corrosion, followed by a terminal cleaner from an auto parts store. I would start there. Let me know if that helps.
