I have a 2006 Saturn Vue. The front passenger door will not latch. Is there some way to latch it so the door doesn't open?

With door opened if the latch is in closed position [meaning that the latch looks like a sideways V with a piece that comes across opening when latch comes down locking around door pin ]opened is latch looks like just a sideways V ---if closed spray with a lube {wd40-rustbuster-etc}first than with a pencil-screwdriver or something u can put behind the latch lock piece lift outside door handle /than push latch forward the latch should move and be in opened position spray lube in latch again to loosen latch try to close door may take a few times for the latch to free up when cold out the vue and the chevy equinox have problems with door latches=== if door latch is just flopping up and down no resistance latch spring broken and will need to replace =====

There is a spring inside the door lock that makes it work this spring is most likely broken try spraying lubricant on the lock just in case its binding ,but it seems like you will have to replace the lock mechanism

Look at the latch on the end of the door and make sure that the latch is open. You will want to spray the latch with some lube.If it is not open you can flip it with your finger or a screwdriver while holding the door handle like you are opening the door. You can look at the latch on the other door to see what it looks like open.Well hope this helps.

Our 2006 Saturn Vue door, when closed, will not latch - simply bounces back. This problem arrived with cold weather. A bit of warm water on door latch solves the problem, but only once.

This problem has arised everywhere this week with the cold spurt across the country. It even happened in my driveway! Do NOT use hot water to solve the problem, as when the vehicle is back in the cold it will only cause the vehicle to freeze shut and thats worse yet. Try one of these items instead. a small squirt of wd 40 worked for me or you can also use a blow dryer to heat the latch. The hot water trick will only make things worse so try another option next time.

2004 saturn vue v6 allwheel drive, my rear passenger door

Run the Vue with the heat runed all the way up, and the vents on, for about 30 minutes. this usually unfreezes the door for me.

It has happened to me three times now in really cold/wet weather.
