1996 GMC Yudon 4 door 4WD Daytime Running Lights (DRL) not working fuse is fine in dashboard I found this solution: 1996-99 chevy trucks. There is a diode, located under the dash between the steering wheel and the radio, fastenen to the round dash bar. The bolt that holds it on, threads into the top of the bar, it is near impossible to get at with a wrench. It is a finned block of (usaully black) aluminum about 2 inches squared 3 inches long. I found a easy way to get it out. Looking up you will see two tabs bent holding the diode in a bracket, bend them out of the way( you may have to bend the bracket a little aswell) and with patience the diode will slide out of the bracket, then disconect the electrical plug-in. I have found that this is the main reason for day-time driving light failure

Would check the relays first, and there is a DRL control module. It looks like a circuit board and not sure the location.

I need clarification on 2003 Chev Malibu DRL problems:

That piece you think is a ceramic DRL module is a resistor , When in DRL mode voltage to the low beam headlamps circuit goes through that resistor dimming the headlamps from low beam to daytime running lamps . It sounds to me like you need a new resistor ,but without doing some electrical testing it could be a lot of things . The DRL relay in the under hood fuse box could have a problem , could be the BCM - body control module , the ambient light sensor etc... Here is how daytime running lamps work .
Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
The ambient light sensor is a light sensitive transistor that varies its voltage signal to the body control module (BCM) in response to changes to the outside (ambient) light level. When the BCM receives this signal it will either turn on the daytime running lights (DRL) or the headlights. Any function or condition that turns on the headlights will cancel the daytime running lamps operation. With the headlight switch in the OFF position, the headlights will either be turned ON or OFF, after an approximate 30 second delay depending on whether daylight or low light conditions are sensed. The HTR A/C IGN fuse in the underhood junction block supplies ignition positive voltage to the daytime running lamp (DRL) relay coil circuit. The DRL relay switch contacts are connected to the low beam circuit. When the headlamp switch is placed in the OFF position, the BCM will either turn on or off the daytime running lamps, depending on whether daylight or low light conditions are sensed. The BCM energizes the DRL relay, closing the switch contacts and grounding the low beam circuit. Ground is provided at G101. The DRL illuminate the low beam headlights at a reduced intensity. The DRL will operate when the ignition switch is in the ON position, the gear selector is not in the PARK position and the parking brake is released. When these conditions have been met and the ambient light sensor indicates daytime conditions, the DRL will illuminate.

Which fuse is for the daytime running lights for a 2005 Chevy Siverado?

The DRL 10-amp fuse in the underhood fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the DRL relay switch contacts and relay coil. When the BCM energizes the DRL relay , the DRL receive voltage on the DRL supply voltage circuit.

1996 chevy suburban high beams work, low beams and daytime running lights don't. checked all fuses none blown, dont know how to check relays except to replace each one, one at at a time.

with a test light back probe the green wire behind the low beam then if test light on = bulb defect
the blue one is for daytime running lights example : if 1 bulb is burn or open no daytime running lights
p.s. you need to have 2 bulbs the same or it won't work

I just purchased a 1991 chevy s10 and the dashboard running lights do not work (no light at night on the spedometer. i checked the fuse box and where it has a missing fuse that i am assuming is the...

drl stands for daytime runnig lights and does not have them for those trucks intended for the usa more for canada. missing fuse is not your problem it lies in the reastate (dimmer switch) on the dash it iether burned up or its moved to the all the way dim location

99 chevy silverado 1500 running lights.....

Remove the fuse! The fuse box under the hood has the DRL (daytime running light) fuse. The underside of its lid should tell you which one. Either that, or just remove the bulbs from their sockets.
If ALL the lights (head, tail, dash, etc. are coming on all the time), then those aren't DRL's. There's a light sensor (little round black dome) on top of the dashboad in the middle front nearest the windshield. They sometimes fall down inside the dash (where it's dark!) and this triggers all the lights to come on when the ignition is on.
