I jump started my 2005 toyota Sienna and accidentally reversed the jumper cables. All the engine dash lights come on and the gas pedal would no longer work. My OBD II had error code P2118 and P2118 P. I have since replaced the battery and the 10A fuse for the throttle motor and the gas pedal now works but the dash lights icons are still staying on.
I don't have a Sienna but I do have a 2008 Toyota Camry SE. After it being in the garage for many months, 8 months I think, I had to give the battery a jump to finally start it up. Well The jumper cables I used weren't that great. They flickered and seemed to smoke a little. So i removed them and put a better set on to get a charge. I didn't think anything of it. After that charge came through and i was able to accelerate at all... The throttle was to the floor and the car would not even go up .5 RPMs... After several days and talking to the dealer, I was about to call a Tow to have it taken to the dealer. Luckily my friend came by with one of those diagnostic readers and it spit out the P2118 error code. Immediately we looked it up and found this site. Thanks to Fixya.com I was able to determine that it was a freakin measly fuse that blew due to bad jumper cables... Thank god for the Fuse and thank you to Fixya.com that I was able to determine this so quickly!!!
Another round of thanks to you guys on Fixya.com. Some helpful young men said they'd be glad to jump start my wife's 2007 Camry V6. As above, the first cables kind of sizzled. The second set was successful in getting the car started. Several minutes later, wife had to drive home maxed out at 20 mph.
I replaced the 10A fuse and we're good to go.
On a side note, the fuse map on the inside lid of the fuse box didn't match the layout of the fuses, but believe it or not, there was an accurate map and circuit listing in the owners manual.

Thanks for the tip on this! I did the same ******** move as everyone else. Couldn't see the markings on the battery properly because it was so badly corroded and it was pitch black out. Anyway, replaced the 10A fuse and all was good. I'd like to add a little more information for anyone in trouble:
The fuse is located in what Toyota calls the Engine Room Junction Block. It's the big black box on the right side of the engine compartment behind the battery. Pop it open to get the offending fuse. The 10A fuse you're looking for is in the upper-left corner. There are 2 relays to the left of it and 20A fuse to the right of it. If you are in a tight spot and need to get back on the road without a spare fuse, use the 10A fuse in the same row, second from the right. It goes to the horn. You'll need to replace it as soon as you can, but at least you'll be on your way.
FYI, Toyota's official name for the throttle body control system is the ETCS or Electronic Throttle Control System. You might come across the acronym if you're searching literature on the subject. Also, I was able to get the "Check Engine" light to go out by disconnecting the battery AFTER replacing the fuse. I'm guessing the system does a complete status check when it gets power re-applied and will find all is well.

Thanks to this site i was able to fix my 2004 toyotta after it started to drag 5 to 10 miles an hour after a jumpstart. it was a simple and very cheap fix. costing me $4.00. i was dreading a big expense.

Do this: Take off the positive terminal for the battery, and leave it off for about 1-5 minutes. After atleast 1 minute, reconnect the battery terminal, and the code should be cleared!

I also ran into this issue with my 2012 Toyota Camry. I attempted to get the battery recharged and the guy crossed the cables. I was told I would have to get the computer reset and almost towed it in. Like others, could not increase MPH over 15. Saw this post, decided I could give it a try and it worked!!!
Just want to post here that the details of changing this fuse were exactly what I needed to know to fix the same issue on my 2008 Camry after trying to jump it with a car start box (Stanley Fat Max-didn't work but was connected properly). I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla and I had check engine light come on 3 x. The 1st was because I left the gas cap untighten per dealer. The 2nd I took it to advance auto because as I was making a turn my check engine came on and suddenly I could not increase speed almost getting hit by another car. It stated it was the throttle. I took it to the dealer they stated I needed a new battery so I bought one. today the light came on again and I had to sit with the car off to see if the ilde would go down finalyy it did and i was able to drive slowly to my destination

Thank you every one.... 2005 sienna LE 209000 miles... gave a wrong jump start after a cold snow day....either jumper cables were filthy/cheap ones or I did reversed the wires..... some smoke on cables handles as if they are sizzled/on fire.....replaced battery!! no response of throttle.. though engine running at 1500 rpm, vehicle moving front and back very slowly.... This post saved 100s of dollars.. bought a 10A fuse 37volts.. replaced the ETCS fuse under hood ... van running like new.... XOXOXO .... cant say in words my achievement and you help....
I went on a trip and was gone for 2 weeks. When I came back my 05 Toyota Sienna le wouldn’t start up. I had to replace my battery. I was able to get the car on but then my car wouldn’t accelerate when I would push down on the gas peddle so I decided to check the fuses which by the way, I had no Idea those fuses were in that box so any who I checked the 10A fuse and sure enough it was blown so I replaced it and my car was running like new!!! I am so happy I found this forum. I am a mother of 2 and being a single mother has taught me that I HAVE to be my own rescue With or without a man. Where there is a will there IS a way.
