What were the codes? It may never reset until u fix it. Most codes aren't intermitten. Not more than 80 miles if doesn't reset then you need to fix problem.

2011 Honda Pilot. How to reset computer.

Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and reconnect, positive then negative with the key in the ignition, but not turned on. You may have to do a relearn on the security system. You will have to enter the radio code. You won't pass an emissions test until you have done a full drive cycle.

A high level scan tool computer will reset any features that you need resetting.

My 05 ford focus Zx3 2.0L I went to smog for twice still don't passed the smog test the reader said cat is not ready evap is not ready 2 air is not ready what I have to do

Did you disconnect the battery recently? Or have the car worked on to correct a check engine light problem? And they reset the codes?

When this happens (loss of all power or code reset), the computer will run all its tests on all systems, and set a 'ready' condition when the tests are passed. Some tests require multiple 'drive cycles' or specific conditions (less than full tank of gas but more than 1/4 tank) to complete the test. Until all (or a specific number - some non-critical tests may be exempted) tests are 'ready', the car will not be passed. The assumption being that until a test is successfully completed, the computer may discover a problem with a system, one that would fail the smog test.

If you're confident that all problems have been fixed, you need to run through enough drive cycles so the computer can complete all required tests. Most ODBII code readers can also read the readiness of the systems. And most parts stores will read your codes for you (and system status) or let you borrow a reader.

2007 ford f150 v6 2wd the truck wasnt running for 2 months with a dead battery. Igot the truck running and tried to get it smoged. it failed. the smog tech said to drive it to make the computer reset and...

Very well could be.
With the dead battery, in effect it is as if you disconnected the battery, let it sit, and reconnected it.
Many cars, the resets the ECM (Electronic Control Module) beack to the factory default settings.
Driving the car a while allows it to "read" the sensors on your particular car (oxygen sensors, etc) and adjusts as needed.

Service engine light stays on

the check engine ligth just means you are not passing emissions right now. Coud be due to loose fill cap at some time, or filling the tank with the key on.
Try disconnecting the battery ground cable for an hour. Then reconnect and drive for 10 miles until computer relearns engine changes. It may run rough for 10 miles.

If still on, go to Autozone and ask them to perform a free computer scan & get the fault code. It will tell you which sysem to check.

I changed the battery and now the computer won't "reset"

Did you change the Batt right before the emissions test? If so bad idea. Yes the car needs to be driven for some time before the computer sets up timing fuel and spark carrectly. Drive some more then try the test again, should be ok and pass
