MY BREAK LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN MY VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF

Your break light switch is stuck. A little WD40 will help. Or the switch has gone bad.

I have a 2002 GMC 1500hd 4x4 6.0 gas engine. Have no break lights. Tail lights and turn signals work fine. Replaced fuses and stop light switch and still have no break lights

GM had a lot of problems with the circuit boards that house the rear lights. My suggestion is to use a test light clip one end to the trucks body parts then remove brake light switch the orange wire should light the bulb on test light this is the power wire, the white wire is the stop light circuit with switch out this also should be lite up. Drop down turn signal switch connector the brake lamp wire goes up the turn signal switch and comes back down the yellow and green wires no power there it is a bad turn signal switch. If Ok Now remove one tail lamp assembly unplug harness and test for power if still have no power trace wiring back to fire wall and check at bulkhead connector. IF ok then circuit board is bad.

What causes the break light swich to push, ive took apart the swich and can push it and break lights worked but when i put swich back on with clip it dose not work when i hit the break peddel

nothing, It doesn't work like that, when your brake switch is mounted , correctly , your pedal has a bracket on it that pushes the switch plunger in so brake lights are off. when you push brake pedal in, to stop vehicle, the switch plunger (spring loaded) comes out to turn brake lights ON ! get it ? when you release pedal it pushes plunger in, to turn lights OFF !

Tail light doesnt turn on with headlights but works fine as a break light and turn signal, why?

in the rear lights you may have two bulbs one is the turn signal the other one is stop light / tail light the stop light / tail light has two filaments, one for the stop light (21 watt) & one for the tail light (5 watt) it is possible that the tail light filament is blown, try replacing the bulb to see if that fixes the problem, also check all the fuses as well.......hope this helps......cheers.

The brake lamp turn on but no brake light of Honda 2004 odyssey

im not sure what the question is/
if you are having a break light turning on or having break problems, 1st check to see if the break fluid is low 2nd if the breaks are pulsating the the rotor could be warped and needs to be turned 3rd if the breaks feel squashy it could be air in the break lines and needs to be bled 4th if the breaks are not stopping or need more pressure to stop the auto you NEED to see a SERVICE SPECIALIST as soon as possible. thank you

My break light swithes on sometimes without me even pressing the breaks. The break light also sometimes stays on even when I have taken my feet off the break. I have tried changed the break light switch...

Did you adjust the brake light switch correctly? To adjust the brake light switch, first press the brake pedal down a few inches, then pull the switch plunger rod out of the switch toward the brake pedal arm, as far as you can without using excessive force. Next, return the brake pedal to the pedal stop position against the pedal stop and pull the brake pedal toward the rear to push the brake light switch actuating plunger rod into the switch housing limited by the travel of the brake pedal arm rear travel stop position. This procedure automatically adjusts the brake light switch correctly.
If the brake lights still don't turn off with the brake pedal released, check the brake pedal arm for sticking or binding that is preventing the brake pedal arm from returning fully to the pedal stop when the brake is released.

Right break light is not working on my 2000 malibu. Switch light bulb but break light does not work. Turn signal works and hazards work..

is it both lights? If yes, check 15 amp stop light fuse first. If good, check brake switch above pedal.

If only one brake light isn't working, you have a broken wire. See diagram below to trace wires.
