My 99 gmc 5.7 vortec got turned when the distributer was out now the oil pump shaft wont line up to put the distributer wont line up .. whats the best way to line everything back up and get the timin

If the Pontiac engine is similar to the small block Chevy, you have, I believe, a hexagonal shaft that runs from the end of the distributor shaft down to the oil pump. This is turned when the distributor shaft is turned by the meshing gears on the camshaft and distributor shaft. I would say that you are probably going to have to re-time the engine. Find TDC, then replace the distributor. It won't matter a whit to the oil pump if the gears are one or two teeth off, but it will matter a great deal if you distributor is not installed so it can be adjusted a few degrees when you get to "fine timing" the engine.

You should be able to download information on how to time the engine (finding TDC, etc.). Failing that, a trip to the library may be in order.

Oil pump leak toyota camry

You need to remove the front part of the oil pump and reseal it with an oil pump reseal kit from the parts store. Do yourself a favor and put in a new oil pump shaft seal as well. While you are at it change the front crank and the front cam seals, as they are all made from the same type of rubber.

Oil pump 2004 chevrolet avalanche

Can only help by putting in a new oil pump as well. I would say remove the heads and check where the coolant is coming from. Bad head or crack in a cylinder wall.

Hi..i had to change a/c condencer, and the a/c compresser, both at the same time.how will i go about charging the system? do i need to add coolent too both ports? or just the low side.?

YOU TAKE TO A GARAGE LET THEM PUMP IT DOWN FIRST MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE RIGHT AMOUNT REFRIGERANT OIL IN COMPRESSOR.IT COME WITH SHIPPING OIL IN IT BUT YOU HAVE TO POUR IT OUT.PUT IN THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF REFRIGERANT OIL IN COMPRESSOR LOOK IN OWNERS MANUAL TO PUT IN THE RIGHT AMOUNT.NOW IF YOUR OLD COMPRESSOR SEIZED OR LOCKED UP THEN LET GARAGE FLUSH OUT METAL SHAVINGS OUT .IF YOU DONT FLUSH OUT SHAVINGS THE NEW COMPRESSOR WILL BE DESTROYED.ALSO YOU HAVE TO REPLACED THE ACCUMULATOR OR ORIFICE TUBE IF EQUIPPED.IF OLD COMPRESSOR DIDNT LOCK UP.PUT NEW REFRIGERANT OIL IN COMPRESSOR IT TAKE AT LEAST 1 OUNCE OF OIL BUT CHECK OWNERS MANUAL ALL VECHICLE HAS DIFFERENT SPECS.AFTER COMPRESSOR OIL BEEN PUT IN EVERYTHING ALL REFRIGERANT LINES TIGHT.TAKE VECHICLE TO A GARAGE THAT DO AIR CONDITIONER WORK.THEY HAVE TO USE A VACUUM PUMP TO PUMP DOWN THE AC SYSTEM TO REMOVE MOISTURE AND LEAK TEST THE SYSTEM WHILE IT PUMP DOWN.IF YOU DONT LET THE GARAGE PUMP DOWN SYSTEM. THE MOISTURE WILL FREEZE UP IN AC SYSTEM CAUSING POOR OR NO COOLING.THE GARAGE GOING TO CHARGE YOU TO PUMP DOWN AND CHARGE UP SYSTEM.IT WOULD BE CHEAPER TO DO THIS THAN TO BUY A VACUUM PUMP AND MANIFOLD GAUGE SET.WHEN DOING AC WORK YOU NEED SPECIAL EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS TO DO THE JOB OR THE AC SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK RIGHT.

I changed the oil pump the destributer cap, rotor, plugs and wires and now it wont start

Test all the cables, never dismiss the fact that a new part could be faulty. Make sure you put the HT leads back in the right order... Make sure the oil pump is primed, some engines refuse to start if there is no oil pressure... find a way to fill the oil pump manually otherwise it may take ages to get oil pressure.

My 1996 Toyota Camry is leaking oil right side front of vehicle

More than likely it would be the front seals, oil pump front shaft seal and gasket ( "o" ring), Cam seal, crank seal one of those. Have to remove timing belt in order to change these seals. I would change out all the seals and put a new timing belt on it. Depending on how many miles you have on your car I would consider a water pump as well because the timing belt also needs to be removed to replace this part. In other words... Costly repair, but instead of replacing the seals and solving the leak and then 2 weeks later the timing belt snaps, then you just paid twice for the labor. Check oil pan gasket first b4 you spend money on seals.

Ticking noise. Oil change was past due. Changed oil, tick still there. Removed valve cover on side ticking seemed to come from. Everything appeared to be in correct working order. What else could it be?

Change oil-right now. Use Havoline or Valvoline 10w30. Use only a wix oil filter. Nothing else. Get a can of "Seafoam" at your parts store. Follow directions(EXACTLY!) when putting in oil. At 500 miles, change oil again. Use same high quality oil and parts. Do not use "Seafoam" this time(It cleaned your engine of carbon and junk on the 1st o/c). Then buy a bottle of "Lubeguard" engine treatment. This will fix you right up. Do not use cheap oil or filters on these Fords. It will cause problems. Good Luck.

OIL PUMP PROBLEMS

the oil pump is not electronic it is gear drivin . either the gear is bad or the installation was done incorrect. my advice is to start over and sure the rod is seated correctly . you should be able to put the rod in and not be able to spin it. if it spins that means either the gear is completely bad or the rod needs replacing or both. in order to replace the gear you have to remove the timing chain. in your vehicle if you have a distributor and not coil packs you have to remove the distributor and look at the bott of the shaft to see if it is worn out. hope this helps........please rate this.
