My 1999 ford falcon xr6 dies on me while driving, it won't turn over it clicks like its a dead battery but when i jumped started it it went for a couple minutes then the lights started to dim then just turnt off, i can still play the stereo and the inside lights all work....whats wrong with it?
Hi
It sounds like you need a new battery, the battery may work the radio but wont have enough power to keep the car going,
Alternatively the altenator may not be charging the battery so that could be the fault.
Lastly check the battery connection from the battery to the car body and the wire leading to the altenator and ensure they all have good tight contact.
A loose earth/ground wire can cause this

Have you checked repalced the battery since you had the car. I had a G6E turbo and a few times i had the same issue, I also had Engine Immobilized come up a few times even tho i could still just start my car.. Once i got a new battery i did not have an issue
whilst you are trying to jump start it check if you jump leads are good and powerful enough to sent the power to your battery, check if your battery terminals are clean enough to accept the power given,or is your battery not completely dead and even you are boosting has not the power to increase the needing one to start and is just for lights only?
It is low battery voltage. It's a common problem with late model falcons, being more demanding on battery voltage. The original batteries were only warranted for 12 months and were not really up to the task. Your best solution is replace it with a good quality higher capacity battery, around the 600CCA range. This is also true for the bf falcons. Generally when the battery is starting to die you will get airbag errors popping up for a few weeks then after a while it will immobilise.
