Eengine wont start has gas and spark?

check for good spark ,if ok check fuel pressure and flow, if pressure is low replace fuel pump, if flow is low replace fuel filter and check fuel regulator for leak back.

wouldnt start before all that or just after, (hummmmmmm)
wont crank or cranks robustly but wont start.
check fuses yet?

If I remember correctly that Jeep had a mechanical fuel pump attached to the engine. I suggest you disconnect the fuel line before the fuel filter and put a pressure gauge on the line. Crank the engine for at least 15 seconds and go see if you have at least 7 lbs of pressure. If not, you need a new pump. It that was good, now disconnect the line AFTER the fuel filter and see if you have a sufficient volume of fuel coming out. For that I suggest you have someone else crank the engine while you hold the hose in a pail. If the stream is weak, change the filter, reconnect the line and see what happens. If it still starts and stalls it could be a clogged carburetor.

Did you do a spark check by holding the plug wire away from the engine while someone cranks it? With a spark plug in the wire, hold it at least 1/2 inch from the engine while someone cranks it. That spark should be able to jump off the plug and into the engine. If not, you have a weak coil. If the spark is strong and you have the correct plugs installed, then it almost has to be the carburetor.

Its either no spark or no gas. Remove the fuel line and carefully crank it over..are you getting any fuel? If not possibly clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump. If yes, are the spark plugs firing. Remove number one plug lead hold close to any metal surface on engine, crank over ..spark there..strong or weak spark? No spark check coil and associated parts.

run the fault codes and check for cam/crank position sensor . check that the cam shaft is turning (broken cam belt)

Make sure battery has a full charge. If it cranks good but won't start, check the basics. Have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs, if spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. I looked at info for the 3.8L engine, 35--40 psi. Also, after you build fuel pressure, turn off the key, see if fuel pressure holds for a bit? If the pressure drops like a rock, check for fuel pressure leak. Check the vac line for fuel pressure regulator, if it has gas in it, the regulator is faulty, or a leaking fuel injector. The pressure could also drain back through fuel pump.
Also, check fuel injector pulse, engine cranking. Any applicable trouble codes?
Smell of the crankcase oil dipstick, if it smells like gas, either you don't change oil and filter very often or the engine is running very rich for some reason.

You don't pressurize anything
You didn't have to change the filter either

You need to check to see if the fuel pump
comes on at all,in the start position when cranking

If you have fuel pressure at the fuel rail on engine

If not then the fuel pump may have failed

Also, do you have a crank signal, spark,etc

Have it taken to a repair shop

Recheck your spark and make sure you are getting spark at each cylinder. Check the fuel pressure by popping off one of the gas line and see how strong the flow is, if you have a weak flow your fuel pump isnt operating properly or you have a clogged fuel filter. Give that a try and let me know if that works if not I will take you to the next step.

Hi!!It sounds like your fuel pump is not working. Check fuel pump relay on engine compartment fuse box have somebody to turn the ignition key to the RUN position, DO NOT CRANK ENGINE (feel if the relay clicks when the key is turned, it will only be energized for a couple of seconds and then you should feel when it gets de-energized. if relay is OK, remove the fuel tank gas cap and repeat the same key operation, listen to the fuel pump coming in, again this will be running only for a couple of seconds, try a few times until you are sure one way or the other. If fuel pump works, then replace fuel filter and try to start vehicle. If vehicle does not start. You need to check fuel pump pressure. borrow a tester form Autozone or similar auto parts store. The fuel pressure should be between 30-40 psi with key ON engine OFF. If pressure is off either way, replace fuel pump. Here is how to hook up the fuel pressure tester

I would check fuel pressure so you can rule out pump. I had a bad pump right out of the box before. Also you may want to change fuel filter so you can rule out plugged filter. You have spark, sure seems like still no fuel.
