We recently replaced a glowplug on our 2003 VW Jetta tdi. We had to disconnect the power source. Since then, the door alarm wont stop ringing. We can't find the factory reset code. Can you help? Oh, it has a monsoon system in it.

Removing the battery connection for this procedure will cause diagnostic trouble codes to be stored in the engine control module. Erasing these DTCs and resetting the readiness code will require Volkswagen scan tool VAG1551/1552 or equivalent. The same results will occur when disconnecting engine management components while the key is in the on position. Some driveability problems may be noticed until the system re-adapts to operating conditions. OBD II readiness codes, which may be required for emissions testing, may also be erased. Convenience electronics (alarm systems, interior light control, power locks, mirrors, and windows) may need to be re-set using a VAG 1551/1552 or equivalent sacan tool.

2003 VW Jetta ''door open'' alarm goes off while driving

The door latch located in the door panel has a micro switch built into it assembly. It is what detects an open door. A new latch is about $150. If you could find a shop to replace it for you. You could also try buying some plastic-safe contact cleaner/lubricant and spraying the latch assembly out and opening/closing the door a few times to work it in.
