"Door Ajar" light won't go off. Interior lights staying on.

My "Door Ajar" light won't go off in my 04 Impala. Any ideas? I've checked everything, even unplugged the battery, etc. This also keeps the interior light on. The car thinks there is a door open, but there is definitely not.

I sprayed WD40 in the handle opening and moved it up and down a few times and sprayed some in the latch and it went away.

One of the door switches went bad. Start with the door that is most used, pull the switch out unplug it and test it for continuity with the button pushed in, if there is continuity with button pushed that is your bad switch. This can be a pain cause cause you will have to remove the interior panels to gain access to the switches plugs from inside the body panels. If you test all switches this way and they test good. than it is the BCM or body control module. Or whatever name GM gives it.

Where is the courtesy light switch in the drivers door on a 1998 Navigator

courtesy light switch , is door ajar switch an it's part of the door lock actuator . Light on coming on ? Not going off ? The ajar switch is a input to the GEM module , fords BCM - body control module . The GEM will energize a relay to turn on the lights .
The GEM will illuminate the interior lamps when any door is open or ajar. The interior lamps are; the dome lamp, the rear cargo lamp, the door courtesy lamp and the side rail lamps. The courtesy lamps will shut off when the doors are closed and the illuminated entry feature is not active or when the vehicle speed is greater than 5 mph (8 km/h). The interior lamps will not be reactivated until the vehicle speed is less than 3 mph (5 km/h) and a new door open warning lamp switch is received.
The GEM controls the interior lamps illuminated entry function by activating the interior lamp relay.
Mite be a good idea to have it check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes .

Door open light staying on, rear view interior light, and check engine light staying on

The door light and interior lights are staying on because one of your door switches needs to be replaced. The vehicle is sensing that a door is ajar and that will keep your interior lights on. This should not necessarily set the check engine light off however. I would believe that there is another issue setting off the check engine light. If there is a parts store in your area ask them if they can scan your vehicles check engine light, and if there is a charge. They will be able to retrieve a code that will explain the problem of your check engine light being on

Interior Lights and Door Ajar light stay w/beeping noise.

Try spraying WD-40 into the door latching mechanism (door side). I learned this fix after two battery replacements, but have only had to spray twice in the more than seven years of ownership
