Head gasket is usually the number ONE culprit. Hard to say without doing a diagnostic. Are you sure it is coolant and NOT condensation? Is it there when you check the oil HOT and COLD? How much coolant are you losing?

I have a 2000 Durango with a 5.9 liter and it wont turn over. Engine started running a little rough and then quite running all together. It turned over a few times then quit. there is oil in the dip stick...

way too much oil. check the coolant level as the sump may be full of water. It will run with a faulty o2 sensor. run fault codes as there could be a cam/crank position sensor problem

Why my coolant fluid keep running out

After you put it, turn on the car and see if it's leaking. Car must warm up first. If you don't see it coming out that might be because its going into the engine. Shut car off and check motor dip stick. Make sure it doesn't have water mixed with oil.

What causes yellow gunk in the oil cap on my 2004 chevy trailblazer

Could be a leaking head gasket or intake gasket.
The gunk is water or coolant. Water if the engine never warms up, coolant if there is a leak.

Coolant ran out of the bottom of the car. Nechanic found hose leak. Car is running rough while sitting. Could it be a Gasket?

if you haven't had any coolant in your car for a week and you have been driving it you may have blown your head gasket, even though you haven't got 'milkey goo' on your oil dip stick. check for goo under your oil cap to see and have it tested at a garage. but from what ive read im almost certain its your head gasket. hope this helps you and beware of the dangers of a running engine so keep hands and loose clothing out of the way of moving parts and engines get very hot so be careful what you touch.

Manual for 2004 lincoln ls

first locate the dip stick for the transmission under the hood, after that start car and let run for 1 min,( car has to be running to check transmission) pull dip stick out and wipe it off the stick it back in and check the level again, if it is low you will have to pour the trans. fluid in thru the dip stick hole, add a little at a time and continue to check fluid level until it reachs fill mark on dip stick also the do not make a manuel for the Lincoln LS you can order a disk from Helminc.com that covers all related thigns for this car I had to order one for my LS good luck

As soon as I turn on the car its running hot. Sat all night. Coolent is a little low but not bad.

Is the car actually running hot, or is your temperature gauge telling you it is? Even on the hotest day, your engine still has to reach 210F+ before it opens the thermostat, so running hot as soon as you turn the car on, is not possible. Use a termperature gauge to measure the temperature of the coolant in the radiator overflow resevoir, to see if it what it reads.

The only time it will actually get hot almost immediately is when you have a blown head gasket! Are you getting any sign of water on your oil dip stick or and oil scum on your coolant in the resevoir?

I have a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx. My gage is indicating that my car is trying to run hot however not reaching the red zone. No lights or indicators on. What could this be?

Check the coolant level. Recommended service interval of the dex-cool coolant is 5 years or 100,000 miles.Make sure the right coolant is in it.The dex-cool is orange/reddish in color and specifically on the bottle. The thermostat could be stuck as well.

Chevy s-10 pick up truck ,158154, 4cyl engine, wont start

Milky substance on your dip stick indicates contamination in your engine oil, most likely coolant and that is an indication of head gasket, or intake gasket gone bad and coolant leaking into your oil system. Note that coolant in your engine oil is bad, coolant will corrode the internal engine's bearing causing you to replace or overhaul the engine. The engine not starting is most likely the result of being blown and will need to be replaced.
Thank you for using Fixya and god luck
