How do I change the right license plate bulb. Do not see easy access from plate area in trunk. Or do I pop off piece around bulb on outside to change? 1995 Lexus ES300

lay the back seat down crawl into the trunk and you can release the trunk latch from the inside and while you are at it repair the latch so you can use it .. when i did that last time i installed an electric release (get the part at the junk yard) so i never had an issue again ..

This, to be honest, is a bigger job than it should be. On the Quest you need to start inside the trunk.
You will need to unscrew the screws on the inside tailgate handle and remove it. Then gently lever around the edges to remove the entire cover panel from the tailgate. This will give you access to the screws (or bolts) holding the narrow outside trim panel that the light is fitted inside. Remove this trim, unscrew the small lens cover for the number plate lights and replace the bulbs.
**Don't Forget to check the bulbs work before you refit the removed trim panels.**
Clean the inside of the lens while it is off to keep the light as bright as possible.
Refit the narrow outside trim. Refit the inside trim panel, pushing the edge clips until they 'click' into place. Refit the inside handle. Close the tailgate and recheck the lights work.

You have to take out the entire back lights, Inside the trunk pull back the material and unscrew those plastic lugs. (Some years have lights on trunk when opened or under) But in my 01 the lights come up with the trunk. Remove those lugs. Take off the entire rear light assembly. You'll have easy access to the License plate bulbs. Sounds complicated but it takes a total of 10 minutes total. While your at it wash the area where the lights were on. A coat of wax left on will keep the water, moisture from rotting the surfaces. Make sure your seals are good and re-install. If the bolts are rusting put a small amount of grease on them. (Prior to re-installation of course)

You need to pop the trunk and look behind the back plate.these lights are usually 5watt small bayonet types and easy to spot if filament has burned or broken.

to change the bulbs on the license plate,all you have to do is open your trunk pop out the plastic caps behind the trunk door and you do it from there its very easy.pop out whatever you need to get to the bulbs i did it. theres no need to go to the dealer for that.hope this helps. raise trunk lid look on the inside behind your license plate light there should be access to the bulb there. You will see the wires going in to the bulb there will either be a flt plate that can be removed to access bulb or where the wires enter there will be a round socket that you can twist counter clockwise and remove the bulb socket for bulb replacement. hope this helps.

remove the 2 license lamp screws from outside,above the lic.plate then from insidethe trunk pull up the lic.lamp housing and replace the bulb.it should pull straight out

1. Open the rear compartment lid.
2. Remove the rear compartment lid trim.
3. Pull back on the rear compartment trim panel.
4. Unplug the lamp connector from the rear compartment lid wiring harness.
5. Press the grommet out of the rear compartment lid.
6. Remove the nuts retaining the lamp assembly to the rear compartment lid.
7. Remove the bulb.

am not familiar with the early year Focus'. Look above the license plate, if the lens for the bulb has two screws, you need to remove them to access the bulb. On other models, open the trunk and look down where the license plate is, you should be able to see and access the bulb from there.
