My Ford Taurus 2001 Suddenly stopped starting. The ignition sounds fine, Turns over, but nothing is catching. Battery is fine, gas level is fine, no check engine light.I thought maybe it just wouldn't cold start, so I tried in the afternoon when it was a bit warmer (30 -34), but no change. What could be the issue? Thanks. Its a 6 cyl, and was recently inspected so I think all was well at that point. (about 3 or 4 months ago). Thank you, solving this will save my apartment and job so I appreciate ANY help. D

Some fords if you slam the trunk lid too hard, it pops the fuel shutoff relay in the trunk area. It is like a circuit breaker you just push the button to reset it. Or you copuld have a sensor under the hood went bad(crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, mass air flow sensor).
I would start by calling the ford dealership to verify the whereabouts of the fuel shutoff relay, and start there. I had a few late 80's taurus'sand they were on the drivers side in the trunk behind a plastic panel(ford may have relocated them since), and i ran into this problem with them. I learned the hard way, the first time it happened to me I went and bought another taurus and started stripping the first one for parts, when a friend showed me that switch, I pushed it a lo and behold the darn thing started. I was mad and happy at the same time.

Do you know if you have spark?. You will need an assistant. Pull a spark plug wire off, put a screw driver in there and hold within 1/4 inch of grounded metal and have someone turn the motor over just a couple times and see if it sparks. Use plastic handled screwdriver unless you want zapped.

2001 ford taurus is cranking but not starting can your fuel pump totally just go out

yes your fuel pump can go suddenly w/ no warning. check your fuses in fuse box and fuel pump relay under the hood. look at owners manual to see where electric fuel shut off switch is to make sure that did not trip and needs to be reset. could possibly be plugged fuel filter but likley its the pump.

Sounds like the idle air control valve..But first check the duct work where the air filter is ,,make sure everythings tight..Also check for wire connections are hooked up..exspecially if you have your oil change recently at a minute lube place..Sometimes they leave things off or loose

Sounds like the MAF sensor isn't working. you can have spark and fuel but with out the car knowing how much air is coming into the motor it won't start.

Replaced alternator now car won't start

recheck your alternator replaacement sounds like a trapped wire or a pulled loose connector. the crank sensor is located in that area

2001 ford escort ignition

If the battery terminals are not clean and tight it can cause this issue you are having. Corrossion can build up inside the cables and cause this issue as well.
