I had the same problem! All you do is call your closest Jaguar dealer and give them the serial # that is under the radio(so you have to remove the radio) they did it over the phone for me and they will give you the code, it's usually gonna be a 1- 6 combo cause thats the numbers for programming if you notice.
I bought a 1991 Jag XJ6 and the stereo was locked. I called the Jaguar dealer and spoke with a person at the parts desk (Cole European in Walnut Creek CA). He asked for the vin# and looked up the code. I don't think you can plainly see the code in your vin# because my code does not exactly match any of the numbers in the vin#. He did not charge me for giving me the code number, but you might have go in with your license and registration to prove the car is yours.
