2002 Buick Park Ave gas pedel sticks

When moving from a stopped position, gentle pressure on the gas pedal finds the pedal is "stuck" or highly resistant and requires more forceful pressing and release to move. After motion is initiated the pedal works fine. The initial force on the pedal required to get it moving is very troubling and results in jumpy starts for stops.

I would inspect the throttle cable first of all. They do have a braded cable which can break a strand and bind at areas inside the surrounding cable housing. It would be easiest to remove it from the throttle body and work it freely. That way you can tell if it binds up. Have some one push and pull up the gas pedal as well to inspect. You will know if this is the problem your having. Also lube the cable if you think it is still good to reuse

2002 buick century sticks in park positon sometimes

Nest time you can not get it out of park take a look at the brake lights. If the brake lights are not illuminating than you possibly have a bad brake switch. The solenoid that holds the shift lever in park is released when the brake pedal is depressed. If the brake switch is not working the gear shift will not move.

3.8 litre park ave seems to crank right up but spits and shuts off immediately. If I continuallypumpthe gas,it seems to 'catch up and rev up vety high. When I stop pumping,it spits and shuts off.

Is the check engine light on while the engine is running ?
If it is I would start there for clues.
If not, the list of possibilities is long.
You should check the fuel pressure and probably the throttle position sensor resistance. It could have a vac leak too.

I CANNOT GET MY BRAKE LIGHTS TO WORK. I CHANGED THE BULBS AND CHECKED THE FUSES. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO? I OWN A 1994 BUICK PARK AVENUE

Hello,

Check the wires for the brake system. Its possible that its been cut or something. This had happened to me already. In time, wires get brittle and they tend to just get cut off. This most of the times happen on places that snow.

I hope this helps. Thanks and have a nice day.

1993 buick park ave will not change gears

Have your Catalytic Converter checked for free flow, (if it is stopped up with calcification from unspent fuel, then the car will have trouble moving at all). A tell tale sign of oncoming Catalytic Converter problems is the overdrive balking or wanting to hesitate, when the transmission is in overdrive the vehicle is running at its lowest r.p.m. and so like at idle it will stumble or hesitate, or cut the engine altogeter, for the motor has to be able to exhale, to exhaust its combustion gases, in order to run properly, stopped up catalytic converters are a big problem with this car.

The switch for that light is on the e-brake assy. If you look above the pedal there will be a one wire switch on the mechanism.
