I have had a similar problem and found that the centre wire from coil to distributor cap had slipped back just far enough from inside the coil to not make a good connection..and no spark meant cranking but no spark to plugs...

Make sure fuel inertial safety has been pressed and reset. Behind Fuse Box #2, drivers side - left of brake pedal. Take off fuse cover and kick plate. It is 1.5 inches long and tucked in wires behind fuse tray. here is a picture of the relayhttps://www.pegasusautoracing.com/produc...

95 jag 4.0 no spark, but power to both coil wires , plugs are good

check the distributor cap and rotor button for shorts /cracks and cleanliness. If you have changed the HT leads then check the firing order . Check the HT lead from the coil to the distributor cap.

My jaguar wont start. I changed crank sensor, fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plug, ignition coil, disributor cap. Am I missing something? What other problems should I check for?

I have had the distributor rotor fail, leaving me stranded - twice. Not sure what can go wrong with them but replacing it was what it took to get it running again.

Acts like it will start and will not turn over.Has fire going in distrubuter but not out

Hi Friend:

#1) Check your Distributor Cap and Rotor,Cap could be Cracked or Damaged also Rotor.

#2) Since you have 4-coils its possible that 1-or more coils are Damaged,Test each one Individually,to make sure its not a Coil.

#3) Next if All checks out on #1 and #2 ,Then it sounds like your Ignition Control Module Or your Coil Pick-up, Start with your Control Module 1st. Is only held by a couple screws and wire connectors.

#4) Your pick up coil is located below your Distributor cap,The Distributor must be removed to replace it.

#5) If your distributor cap is not Cracked or Terminals Burn't or Carbon Deposits,I would Go Ahead and Replace the Control Module, its only like 30-35.00

This will help you solve your problem, Please let me know how you come out.

1984 Ford F150 turning over but not getting fire

Good battery, good starter. Leaves spark and fuel.
1. Remove 1 spark plug wire from a plug. Hold near engine block while someone "cranks" the engine.
- Spark (yes/no)
If yes, issue is fuel. If no, remove distributor cap and check for cracks. Also clean inside to remove rust and dirt. Besure that inside of distributor cap is reasonably clean and rust free. After that, reinstall cap.
Try to start engine. IF it is exactly same symptom.....
Check input voltage to coil (high voltage source for distributor). Is 12volts present? If not, troubleshoot wiring between battery source and coil. Be sure to include the fuse for "ignition" in fuse box.
If yes.....Confirm high voltage is present at center (input) wire to distributor (CAUTION:- 30,000 volts could be present... do NOT touch bare wire.) Use insulated plyers or similar to place this center wire near engine block to check for spark. Note that this voltage source is powered on as soon as the ignition key is in the "run" position.

Replace coil if no high voltage is coming out. Replace distributor cap and rotor if high voltage is coming in to it, but not leaving and getting to spark plugs.

-------------
Confirm fuel is getting to intake.
I spray starting fluid into intake while cranking engine. It will "fire" if all else is good.
If it "pops" or fires, then you have a fuel feed problem... between tank and intake manifold, shoot fuel filter, fuel pump and otherwise confirm that gas is moving to intake from gas tank.

Good luck.

Car wont run.

Does it crank well and all that but with no spark or is the battery just dead? If the battery is dead, it either won't charge while alternator is spinning or the alternator doesn't charge well enough to keep the battery charged well. If it jumps and runs indefinitely, battery is done. If it jumps and dies, alternator is done. If battery and alternator are fine, and you have no spark, you may need a new coil, new spark plug wires if they are worn out and too resistant, pick up coil inside of distributor, or you may have some other ignition system issue.

Most times when an alternator fails, it starts charging less and less till the car won't keep running or it won't start the next time. If the alternator hasn't failed, the battery needs replacing. If your battery is 5 or more years old this is a very good possibility. If your alternator failed and you have killed your battery many times before replace them both. Each time you drain a battery to dead you lose about 10% of its current capacity.

If the battery is fine and engine will not turn, starter may need replacing. Hope I helped.
