SOURCE: 1993 dodge dakota installed new fuel pump and checked all fuses

Check the shutoff inertia switch. The pump relay/fuse or it could be a bad pump circuit. It could be any of these. Make sure the gas cap is tight. fuel pressure must be good for the pump to work.

It is a black box on the driver side mounted to the fender.. Black box.. what is your pickup doing? I would pull teh computer an take it in to a Dodge Dealer ship to have them Test it! and check at your local junk yard for the computer. good luck hope you figure it out!

Fuel pump circuit short 1988 dodge dakota

That relay powers several other things including the pump.
I think the ignition and injectors are on that circuit too.
I would recommend you get a shop manual with the wiring diagrams and check the other components. A Haynes book may not be detailed enough.

1988 DAKOTA how do you test fuel pump voltage?

you get under the truck and follow the gas lines to the fuel pump. it should be located in the gas tank. take your voltage meter and attach one to each wire with the key in off position.Which ever one lights up with key off that's your main wire.then do the same with the key turned forward. if it reads the same then you need to check your fuses in the cars dashboard or under the hood.
