This sounds like the latch assembly wearing out. see if you still have a warranty on this vehicle by calling the dealer, if not replace the latch assembly inside the door.

How do you open the hood for a '04 Jaguar X Type?

If you look at the very left of the steering column, down by your feet, and nearest the door there is as black handle. Pull the bottom. When you get back outside, just to the driver;s side of the centre of the grill will be a handle. Pull that gently to release the safety and lift the hood. Would you like an owner's handbook?

I cannot open my drivers side car door from inside of vehicle. It will only open from the outside . . . what is wrong with it? How to fix it?

another jaguar common fault.take the door cover off and you will see the wire from the handle to the lock. replace the clip(plastic)and all should be okay.make sure plastic sheeting is watertight afterwards otherwise you will have another fault(wet carpets)

Jag S-Type -intermitent fault where the remote fob does not work

This does not sound like a fob fault - but a locking control module fault , either in the hardware or software of the unit. Get it checked at a Jaguar dealers. When unlocking using the key - as soon as the door is opened you should hear a chime sounding inside the car - this is a timer counting down to sounding the alarm. If you put your key in the ignition as soon as you open the door the alarm should not go off and the chime should stop. If it does not this again points to a fault in the locking controller.
hope this helps - good luck.
