2007 Volvo S40, starting today when I turn the key all lights come on, as normal, but nothing else happens, car does not even try to start. If I wait and keep trying the car starts like normal. Could this be a key problem? Dealer says probably a key issue, not battery or starter.

SOURCE: brake pad change
yes, the process is the same. the ABS sensor isn't physically attached to any of the brake components, so don't sweat it. (please rate my answer)

there may be a rear alignment issue but I'd check with a garage that can check your tracking
SOURCE: try to start car and nothing happens. replaced
Do the dash lights come on ? They should come on when the key is turned to the on position. If nothing happens check the engine relay. It is not too expensive to replace if you really want to eliminate that as the problem. Check all wires going to the starter and make sure it is wired correctly.
SOURCE: spare key
Well depending on if its an electronic key, or has an anti-theft module on it, you may be forced to purchase from the dealer.
On the other hand, you may just be able to go to a local locksmith and save some bucks! hope this helps!

I have a problem with the check engine.
I had this same problem. Car would start fine one minute and then wouldn't start the next and it did this intermittantly. Finally, it wouldn't start at all. Turns out something broke inside the ignition, a $1,000 fix. Mechanics took the steering column cover off and I now start my car with a screw driver.
