First you must air bleeding out from inside hydraulic clutch acting system ! On the slave cylinder you will find an aeration screwed ventil provided for air bleeding. See picture below:

audi a3 1996 1.6 5 speeds model. 1st flexi - ee99bec.png Two person are necessary for this operation. One person for acting the clutch pedal and another person for air bleeding out from inside hydraulic clutch acting system by unscrewing the aeration ventil from slave cylinder. This operation is difficult, and must spend some time for successful result!

Why does the clutch slip intermittently on my Audi A4 2009 Diesel in high gears

Agreed. The clutch disk is likely worn. The pressure plate is self adjusting so there is no adjustment available on stock Audi pressure plates or indeed in most pressure plates.

Another possible cause is a leaking rear main engine seal that is allowing engine oil to seep and then be thrown around the bell housing and work its way onto the flywheel/clutch/pressure plate.

Test you clutch in 3-4 gear acceleration from a slow speed...if the engine speed flares faster than the car accelerates, you have a worn/bad clutch.

Gears seem to want to slip out and make a winning noise in certain gears too is my gearbox done for or is it more likely clutch it's Audi a3 with 130000 on the clock and clutch is very high too any...

gears slipping out will be indicated by the gear lever jumping into neutral. This can be from incorrect rear engagement from a loose worn pivot in the gear lever tower or something stopping the gear lever from moving properly.. Clutch problems are indicated by --going to the floor. crashing 1st gear, engines rpm s climbing without an appreciable vehicle speed increase. If there is a fault in the gear box it will be only in the gear engaged (missing teeth-chipped ) and not all gears. If it is a bearing then there will be no noise in 4th gear
Boxes are repairable as mostly it only needs that faulty part to be replaced

Vibration between 20-25 in 3rd gear and 28-32mph in 4th gear

did you replace the clutch plate as well as the clutch ? as not doing so it can be warped from the heat of old one burning out. also did you check the flywheel as any imperfections in the plate can cause clutch wobble.

yes it sounds like the clutch is worn.1st thing when a cutch wears is its hard to get in reverse
as long as all air is bleed out(pedal feels normal)not a bad job unless its 4 wheel drive

My 2004 audi s4 makes gronchy noise when i put it in to 2nd gear when cold whats causing it?

If I've understood your problem correctly.....when changing from 1st gear into second the box is giving a metal on metal crunching sound?
  • This would be the syncromesh ring which is not equalizing the speed correctly.
  • The problem usually happens when there is wear on the same part.
  • Check to make sure that the correct transmission fluid has been used in the box.
  • To alleviate the problem and delay the time when it will require attention, use the double de- clutch method of changing gears, especially when the transmission is cold.
  • The double de-clutch is carried out in the following way.
  1. When in gear and changing from 1st gear to 2nd, change into neutral and release the clutch and then depress again before selecting 2nd gear....It is not required to rev the engine in the neutral position when changing up....
  2. When changing down rev the engine when the shift lever is in neutral for each change.
You'll soon get the hang of it and stop the crunching sound, protecting the box at the same time....

Audi a4 tdi stiff gearchange worse when hot 1197 model

tandard practice to change the oil on a clutch replacement. Was the replacemmiles it's covered, but it's not sounds like the gearbox oil need changing. You don't say how many miles it has done. Gear box oil is not usually changed in a clutch replacement. Did an Audi garage carry out the rlacement? It could be the cable needs adjusting to allow the clutch to have free movement
