Rear liftgate dome light

Hi-
I recently purchased a 94 pathfinder. Due to its age, the rear liftgate hydrualic cylinders no longer hold the thing up. I purchased new after market replacements and installed them. Since then, the rear dome light stays on while the car is in motion and only turns off if I give a little shove to the gate while stopped and I can't locate the on off button in the liftgate well. any advise/options?

Its located in the liftgate lock mechanism but it seems like you might be able to adjust it so that it makes better contact try moving the latch in towards seats.

2007 escalade 2 front doors wont trigger dome light but rear 2 doors do? Also killing battery on vehicle, I suspect maybe radio stays on due to vehicle not knowing driver left vehicle.

Door ajar switches maybe bad . Take the door panel off ,find a wiring diagram an test the circuit . Or you could check at the BCM ,would still need wiring diagram so you know what wire is what . Do you know how to test electrical circuits using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? Could also take it to a qualified repair shop an have the BCM checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes .
The BCM, the door switches, and the liftgate module (LGM) (if equipped with power liftgate) communicate through the GMLAN serial data circuit for the lamp illumination commands of the doors, liftgate, and liftglass open/ajar switch signals. The LGM receives a ground signal from the pawl switch, ratchet switch, and liftglass ajar switch that are located within the liftgate latch and liftglass latch. For all vehicles, the left and right rear door latch switches are both on one circuit that is also an input to the BCM.
If the vehicle has a manual liftgate, there is an input circuit from the liftgate latch switch and liftglass latch switch directly to the BCM.
The left and right front door courtesy lamps receive voltage and ground from the driver door switch and the passenger door switch respectively. The remaining courtesy lamps are controlled and receive voltage through the BCM from the CTSY fuse in the instrument panel fuse block.

Do This
Don't Do This

Reposition liftgate lock cylinder wave washer and adjust lock rod.
DO NOT replace the liftgate latch or actuator.

Condition
Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:

• The rear liftgate glass may not lock when using the remote keyless entry (RKE), key fob transmitter or door lock switch unless the lock is pressed a second time.

• The rear liftgate or glass locks, but may be unlocked when the rear liftgate lock cylinder button is depressed.

• The rear liftgate locks but the liftgate glass may not lock.

Cause
These conditions may be caused by one or all of the following:

• The rear liftgate cylinder lock rod may be out of adjustment.

• The wave washer on the liftgate lock cylinder may be out of position with the cup side down.

• Excessive movement or slack in the lock rods at the liftgate bell crank assembly.

• The liftgate lock cylinder pawl may contact the rear liftgate glass latch when the lock cylinder button is depressed.

Correction
Important: Do Not remove the rear liftgate lock cylinder from the vehicle to perform this repair.

Reposition the rear liftgate lock cylinder wave washer and adjust the lock rod using the steps below.

Verify the customer's condition.

Open the liftgate.

Remove the upper liftgate garnish molding.

Remove the rear liftgate trim panel.

Remove the cylinder lock rod from the threaded lock rod retaining clip.

Tip
Place the tip of a screwdriver blade into the opening of the C-clip and slowly rotate the screwdriver to pry out the C-clip from the shaft. Then use needle-nose pliers to remove the C-clip.

Remove the C-clip from the rear liftgate lock cylinder push button and remove the wave washer.

Install the wave washer with the cup side up.

Position the wave washer with the curved edges of the wave spring parallel to the tabs on the lock cylinder shaft.

Important: Use needle-nose pliers to slightly squeeze the C-clip back into shape. Make sure the clip seated, you should feel a snap and hear an audible click.

Install the C-clip onto the shaft and in the slot using needle nose pliers. Then rotate the pawl several times to make sure the C-clip does not rotate. If the clip rotates then the clip is not fully seated.

Position the lock cylinder pawl to the full clockwise position.

Pull up on the cylinder lock rod to remove any slack in the bell crank.

Install the cylinder lock rod into the threaded lock rod retaining clip while removing any slack from the lock rod linkage.

Close the lock rod retainer clip.

Close the liftgate assembly.

Open the liftgate glass while keeping the liftgate closed.

Use the key fob to cycle the liftgate to the lock and unlock position while inspecting the rear liftgate pawl. The lock cylinder pawl should have clearance between the latch as shown above. If the pawl is contacting the latch, readjust the cylinder lock rod.

Verify that the customer's condition has been corrected.

Install the rear liftgate trim panel.

Install the upper liftgate garnish molding.

When i use the key fob to lock the doors the back glass dont lock, ???????

This solution applies to models:
2002-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, Trailblazer EXT and Trailblazer SS
2004-2007 Buick Rainier
2002-2007 GMC Envoy, Envoy XL, and Envoy Denali
2002-2004 Oldsmobile Bravada
2005-2007 Saab 9-7x

Condition/Concern:
Rear liftgate glass will not lock when using the key fob or door switch unless the lock button is pressed a second time. All other doors will lock normally. This could be the result of the liftgate glass lock rod not adjusted correctly. This lock rod travels from the liftgate lock actuator to the glass release push-button cylinder.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Remove the inside rear liftgate trim panel. Disconnect the threaded lock rod clip at the end of the push-button glass release and rotate this clip 1 complete turn at a time making the lock rod longer. This will be the only threaded lock rod visible when the trim panel is removed and the liftgate is raised.
Note: For the rear glass to release, the rear liftgate latch must be in the closed position. For test purposes only, this latch can be made closed to make this lock rod adjustment.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

2006 chevy trailblazer dome light will not turn off

it sounds as though you've got a wiring problem with your rear liftgate. this would cause the pin switch to think it's still open instead of closed, and the power loss to the wiper assembly. check your fuses first to see if there are any blown. then check and make sure your ground wire for the rear liftgate is clean and tight and not broken.

No reverse gear - auto trans

Hi mjpgd,
I have the same problem on my 96 Pathfinder. I just spoke with a mechanic who said this is most often due to a knicked seal in the rear part of the transmission. The leak results in pressure loss, making the system reluctant to shift into reverse. He said the fix is replacing the seal. The part lists at approx $200 Canadian ($190 USD), but unfortunately it takes lots of labor. The whole transmission needs to be removed and taken apart to replace the seal. The total bill is esitmated at $1500 Canadian. Youch. I'm not sure if I'll proceed with the repair, given the age of the vehicle.

Saturn Turn Signal / Dome Light Issues

The interior lamps system consists of 2 main features. Illuminated entry and a battery saver feature that will turn the interior lights off after 20 minutes if they are left On with all doors closed and the ignition Off. The body control module (BCM) controls both of these functions. Battery power is supplied by the BCM through CKT 1732 to the following lamps:
• The dome lamp
• The map lamps
• The rear reading lamps
• The rear dome lamp
• The cargo lamp
• The glove compartment lamp
• The courtesy lamps
• The sunshade lamps
The BCM also controls the ground circuit side of the dome lamp and reading lamps for illuminated entry. The dome lamp and reading lamp will remain on for 20 seconds after the ignition key is removed and the last door is closed. In addition, if the vehicle is equipped with remote keyless entry (RKE), the dome and reading lamps will turn On and stay on for 20 seconds after an UNLOCK signal is received from the keyless entry transmitter.
The reading lamps, dome lamp and map lamps can be turned On at any time by moving the appropriate switch to the On position.
The rear dome lamp is fed battery voltage through CKT 1732 from the BCM, through the liftgate ajar switch, and is grounded through CKT 650 to the rear ground splice pack. The rear dome lamp will turn on when the liftgate is opened. The cargo lamp is fed battery voltage through CKT 1732 from the BCM, through CKT 744 and grounded through the decklid ajar switch.
The courtesy lamps are fed battery power through CKT 1732 and are grounded through CKT 745-- left front, CKT 747--left rear, CKT 748--right rear, CKT 746--right front. These circuits will ground through the door jamb switches. The courtesy lamp will be illuminated when the affected door is opened. For example, when the right rear door is opened, the right rear door courtesy lamp will turn on.

Not a fuse problem , if the BCM had blown fuse other thing's wouldn't be working as well . . Probably wiring or BCM . Using factory diagnostic,s instead of guessing as to what the problem is , is the proper way .

Interior Lamps Diagnosis
Symptom
Procedure
Important: Before proceeding with these diagnostics, check for DTCs. If DTCs are present, complete the associated diagnostics. If the condition still exists, return to this chart.
All of the interior lamps are inoperative when any door is opened.
Chart 1
The dome lamp is inoperative in the ON position, but OK in the door position. The map lamps operate normally.
The dome lamp switch is faulty. Replace the dome lamp switch.
The dome lamp is inoperative in the DOOR position, but is OK in the ON position.
Chart 2
The dome lamp is inoperative in any position and both reading lamps are inoperative.
Disconnect the dome lamp connector (BLK 3-way).
Check for voltage at terminal "C" CKT 1732 ORN wire.
If OK, the dome/map lamp is faulty. If no voltage is present, there is an OPEN in CKT 1732.
Either the right or the left sunshade mirror lamp is inoperative.
Chart 3
Either the right or the left rear reading lamp is inoperative in the ON or the DOOR position.
Chart 4
The rear reading lamp is inoperative in the ON or the DOOR position.
Chart 5
Battery rundown protection is shorted to ground - B1482.
B1482
The left rear reading lamp is inoperative in the ON or the DOOR position.
