It is located Under hood, center, upper firewall, mounted in fuel line (basically back of dash). Take note of how it is mounted not to install backwards. Unhook battery ground. Unhook two fuel lines one on top one on bottom of filter.Mark fuel lines top/bottom tape helps not to get mixed up. Remove from clamp. place new filter in clamp noting proper top and bottom. replace fuel lines. reattach battery, cycle key on and off 3 times slowly. (when you turn key foreward you will hear pump kick on. when stops turn off. Do again 2 more times then start.

Civic EX 1997 D16Y8 fuel economy problem (waisting fuel)

The most typical thing to go out that will waste fuel is O2 sensors. They can be marginal where they will not throw a code but will not be efficent. You can test the operation with a good scan tool or just buy two new ones. Also buy a can of "Seafoam" and dump it in your tank next fill up

How do you change fuel filter on 1996 honda civic

Hi:
The fuel filter is mounted to the back wall of the engine compartment, next to the battery. It has a metal strap with a 10mm bolt holding it tight. First step is to depressurize the fuel system, or you can wrap a rag aroun the fittings and break them free before loosening the filter mount strap. Replace the copper seal rings when you move the fuel lines over to the new filter. tighten everything up, turn on the ignition, and check for leakss visually.

I have a 2001 civic ex after it warms up the idle drops and it has a misfire on the #2 cylinder

Knowing the mileage would be helpful. Change spark plugs and plug wires. Also change fuel filter and air filter if they haven't been changed recently. If it still has a miss then run a compression test. Could be a leaky fuel injector also.
