Intermittently won't hold idle and stalls - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Sounds like possible Idle Speed Control (ISC) issue. Start by having computer codes read by dealer or other facility.

sounds like you have water in the fuel, put in a some dry gas and let it sit over night then drive it the next day to see if it improves

black smoke is the sign of a weak ignition and or timing

Your first problem is to find out why the intermittent no-power problem. Honestly, that sounds like a loose conmnection somewhere. check all your grounds for clean and tight conditions Also, battery connections and alternator connections. Double check your power distribution center for any loose wires or poor connections. Once you solve that problem, then you can diagnose the other problems with poor idle and temp. gauge.

Chck fuel pressure at idle (low voltage) and above idle.
Possible dying fuel pump. Was the filter full of black bits of rubber?

Have a mechanic check it for vacuum leaks!
