My mustang 2000 is not getting gas to the jets

My daughter ran the tanki very low. my wife drove it to the gas station on a freezing morning, she filt up the gas and it never started, it will trun over very strongly but wont start. i towed it to the house changed the gas filter, and it didn't start that night. but it started the next day and it ran for a whole week. the daughter took it down the road drove over 65 miles, and then it happened again. it wont start again, turns over strongly, has gas pressure, but it seems the gas is not getting to the fuel injectors.

3800 v6 pump

The pump could very well be shot. Running the vehicle that low allows the pump to get hot. Then when you add fuel, the coldness of the fresh gas can seize the pump. The best place to start would be checking fuel pressure.

My 97 intrepid will start up, but putter out within seconds

Map Sensor or Crank Sensor. If you have a code reader the map sensor should throw a code, the crank sensor most often will not. Both will cause the car to start, idle to around 1,000 R's and then die.

All of the symptoms that you have talked about point to a fuel pump that is starting to fail. I would take it to a mechanic and have the fuel pressure checked. It is a simple procedure and should be rather inexpensive.

all are very possible but you can go to any chain auto parts to get your codes read especially if your light was flashing this indicates serious trouble once you have the codes its easier to help you but it sounds like a misfire to me meaning bad spark plug, wire or coil.

1987 IROC, Ran out of gas,put gas in, now service engine light on

if you have high milieage you may have sucked in the gunk on the botton of your tank when you ran out of fuel check if you can hear the fuel pump running for about 2 sec with key on engine off if you hear nothing the problem is with your pump as they will burn out if they run dry for too long,if you hear the pump check for fuel pressure if pressure low check fuel filter to see if clogged by gunk from bottom of tank.
