1 day ago our 97 Dodge diesel 1 ton, was fine. Today it wouldnt start, only with starting fluid and wouldnt stay running or run on its own. Did the same thing 3 weeks ago and started just fine and was okay till today. Any idea what the problem is?

installed new fuel pump and filter in 97 cavalier 2.2 the car will run for a couple seconds and shut off if you spary it with starting fluid it will stay running
check for water in the fuel filters and drain them accordingly also check the fuel heater circuit in the fuel filter hosuing to make sure it is working and not shorted check the glow plug relay to mae sure its functioning correctly also
had a 2000 blazer 4.3 wouldnt start in really cold enviroment..... ended up being the FUEL PUMP RELAY.... it still running good... bout every ther day or so... but it acted like your truck
