My car (which has 58000 miles on it- if that helps) suddenly acted like it ran out of gas- started jerking and then turned off. The check engine light came on, but turned off after restarting my car- then car was fine for a few days. This happened again this morning. I also noticed when driving, it was like it was going to stall every-time it shifted (automatic), and seemed to need me to give it more gas to go.
Definitely sounds like a fuel problem. I'd change fuel filter and check fuel pump. If pump is running it could still be partially clogged. Try a fuel rail pressure test with a knowledgeable mechanic.
