2003 Jaguar s-type Transmission fault car wont move

I have a 2003 Jaguar s-type. I parked it in the garage 3 days ago, came back to try to start the care and it wouldnt start, it states transmission fault. I checked all fuses and they all seem to be fine. I know the transmission cant be bad cause i drove it into the garage just fine. Any thoughts on how to get it to move again?

First off check the battery. Try and jump start it. If that does not get the vehicle running you may have a problem with your J gate as it will not start unless in park or neutral. If an internal electrical fault has happened then the micro swith may not send a signal to the ecu to allow the car to start. the J gate is the gear selector by the way

2001 Jaguar S-type won't start

Check if your transmission really is in park. I once had the same problem and it was fixed by moving the stick in and out of the park stand for a couple of times. Then the red light illuminating the "P" came on and i could start again.

Has to do with the transmission cable that tends to get a bit loose.

2003 s-type jaguar

I, as well as a guy I work with both drive s-types. He had this problem with his.

The problem is with a cable that runs from the shifter to the transmission. There is a bracket which holds the cable in place. This bracket is prone to coming loose and when that happens, your s-type won't shift out of neutral. Simply resecure the bracket and cable. Be sure to use loctite on the bracket screws so it won't happen again.

2002 Jaguar x-type

This may be as simple as some cells in your car battery being knocked out. Try a jumpstart and if this works then it is the battery.
