A battery can read 12 volts yet be weak in cold cranking amps, try a jumpstart and if that works have your battery load tested. Im betting your gonna find the battery fails the load test, meaning it needs to be replaced..

2014 impala 2LT start out battery voltage on DIC reads 12.7 volts. After a few miles it changes to 14.2 volts. On last trip same thing. But now I can't bring up the battery display or trip B Display

a battery has 12 volts of charge, when you drive it the alternator charges it to 14 volts, I don't think that you have a problem with your charging system however the DIC may need some help

Cadillac cts reads service charging system

Usually this message comes on when the vehicles electrival system is below approximately 10 volts or over 16 volts indicating a charging system malfunction. You should take the vehicle to a trusted automotive repair facility and have the alternator and battery check for proper performance.

My 2003 cadillac escalade ext stalled yesterday & wont start. If it does start up it just runs for a second & shuts off. It has power & is deffinately not the battery. It turns over & seems...

This sounds to me like the antitheft security system. If the computer doesn't read the transponder frequency coming from the key, it goes into anti theft and shuts down the starter and/or the injectors. If it starts for 1 to 5 seconds and then shuts down, its probably this. Read up about this on this link, it gives you symptoms and causes, plus a "do it yourself" solution if you decide that this is the problem. I've been dealing in GM vats-passlock-passkey securities for quite a while now. From your description, I'd guess this is the issue. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

I replaced 2 alternators in my 2000 catera...only when it rains does the car not start..the battery is dead as a door nail...can someone help?

Make sure the car is not draining the battery while parked and shut off.
Place a meter across the battery, it should read 12 volts when charged up.
Start the car and it should climb to and read 14 to 14.5 volts. If it doesn't, then the alternator is bad.
