No Start - Lanos 99 SOHC 1.395cc

Hi. I can give you a simple, but time consuming test to do to check your intermittent compression problem. New hydraulic lifters cause a lot of problems until its settled. Remove the camshafts and the hydraulic lifters. Take each hydraulic lifter and put it in a vice(becarefull not to damage them) and squeeze out all the oil in the lifters. Then put them back and replace camshaft and allign timing marks. Check compression ratio. What happens sometimes is that the oil pressure is too high(stuck oil pressure release valve or cold thick oil) and this causes the oil pressure to put so much pressure on the hydraulic lifters, that it slightly forces the valve open. That will cause your low compression as well as backfire through the intake.

2003 Taurus. Oil light came on. Checked level. Good. Drove another 5 miles, now have engine knock on top side of motor. Thought maybe oil pump malfunction. In the middle of nowhere, drove 50 miles home....

Before driving it anymore I would have someone test the actual oil pressure using a mechanical test gauge to see how much , or little, oil pressure you actually have. The knocking noise could be a hydraulic lifter that is partially collapsed due to low oil pressure or a rod bearing that has been damaged from low oil pressure. If it is just a lifter that is making noise then there's a pretty good chance that the lifter will quiet back down once the oil pressure is normal again. If it turns out that your oil pressure is normal both at an idle and at highway speeds then the noise may be unrelated. You can cause some serious damage by continuing to operate any engine that is low on oil pressure even if the dipstick shows it to be full of oil. Hope this helps and good luck!

Will intake gasket leak make the lifters tic when first starting

I dont think and intake gasket will cause lifter noise. It may cause a rough idle and or a miss at idle on cold start up . as the engine warms up the miss or rough idle will decrease . As for the lifter noise this could be cause by the lifter bleeding down or poor oil presure . On your model of engine there is no adjustment on the rocker arms for lifter noise . They are a 0 lash type .

94 Buick Skylark, 3.1L, no start condition cause diagnosed as depressurized lifters? The car sat for a few weeks with the pushrods removed, the intake manifold gasket was being replaced. YES I'm...

I have never heard of this before but if this is the case then cranking the engine will refill them with engine oil surely ,i mean how do they build them on the assembly line at 3 engines a minute then start them from new on the test bed before the engine leaves the assembly for the body plant .Are you sure something else isnt wrong like the vacumn pipe to the valve on the end of the fuel injector line ?

How to change lifters in 1994 350 chevy pu

the lifters are inside the engine under the intake manifold, you must remove the intake manifold, valve covers, rocker arms, and push rods. do you have a repair manual? I suggest Haynes or Chilton, if you do not have one check your local library, they may have one

The first thing you should do is change the oil filter. No matter how old it is. If that doesn't work repost.
