My engine light has come on in my nissan micra 51 plate what could it be changed spark plug 2 weeks ago

Have you had a battery disconnect recently? Did you try resetting the the security system and engine immobilizer?

Spark plugs in your car are good for 100,000 miles. try changing fuel filter and add a can of B&G 44K fuel additive. This stuff is the best on the market and only available at dealerships. It conditions fuel pump and injectors, also absorbs water in fuel (methanol). Try this first, your car is too new for any other problems. this should help drivability and fuel mileage. If Nissan does not have B&G, I know Toyota does. Also stay with 91 octane fuel. Check oil and coolant often. do not risk overheating in traffic, watch your gauges......

I have not used my nissan micra 2003 for 7 months it has been stored in the garage but the engine has been started on a weekly basis but today the warning engine light has come on, the car has only done 2300 miles, SHOULD I BE WORRIED or is it because the battery has been disconnected in between starting the engine so it didnt drain the battery while it was standing in the garage unused, this has happened the day before i take it for a mot.....

Sounds like a fuel issue if you have run it dry, maybe a blocked fuel filter, or maybe it needs new spark plugs, check the air filter as well.

There is a dead cylinder, so its not getting a spark at one spark plug. Check it at Autozone for free, that will tell you where the trouble is.

check air flue meter stick a matchstick into the hose if this works change air flue meter allso check sparkplugs

Spark plugs are very cheap to buy, treat the car to a new set .If it cures the problem then great if not then look further. A faulty mass air flow sensor would not cause a miss fire on just one cylinder. Is your Micra misfiring? or is it just down on power and fuel consumption poor?
