RENAULT ESPACE 2.2 DCi 2003 NOT STARTING Had a nice 1hr drive today, dry fine weather, car driving with no problems. After a stop, put in the key card and....NOTHING! no dash display, non starting! Called out the rescue service (battery checked out OK, tried jump starting etc) had to get towed home as they couldn't fix!! (suspected key card fault)
At home tried with spare key card..same problem.
Some times when getting in (key cards work to unlock/lock) the dash lights up ''Insert key card / press start'' (and a beep beep beep sound), but inserting the card, pressing start does NOTHING ;-( the beep continues (should stop when insering card).. Other times no dash display, no beep, no NOTHING.
Any one have any ideas?

your problem sounds like a weak batery. fit jump leads and try again. the starter has to be taken out from underneath. its located behind the engine block. the bolts are accesable from under the bonnet

Hi this was exactly the problem i had with my Laguna 1.9dci its a sensor switch on the steering column. Cricical circuit to the car. so will not run without it. afraid you will have to replace the sensor. had to get renault to do mine.

We had exactly the same problem with our 56 plate 2.2 dci dynamique which we have had from new...47.000miles and it had the engine and turbo replaced...fortunately it was under warranty. Apparently it had over-pressured with the oil...no investigation at the dealer...fit new!! so they did..have heard of other owners suffering the same but,as usual, Renault have never heard of such a faliure on the model!...Nothing new there then!

Hi, Did you get this problem sorted as I have had the same problem this weekend and the car won't start.
Had to get a new card reader fitted! Have since sold the darn car...no more renault for me!
