To locate the oil pressure sending unit, locate the oil filter and look above it and to the right, above the starter. You will see a long round sensor, this is the oil pressure sending unit. It screws into the engine block and when you remove it you will get a dribble of oil.

1996 chevy 5.0 express van starts for about 10 sec. then dies, fuel psi starts at 60 then drops to 42 psi then dies, im thinking a pressure regulator if so where is it located.

Hi, try pulling the connector off your oil pressure switch and using a short jumper wire to connect the terminals inside. The switch is on top of the engine behind the distributor. If this works to keep the pressure up, replace the oil pressure switch. You may notice your oil pressure gauge spiking and/or the engine light may illuminate. This is normal with the jumper wire installed. Please let me know if this doesn't work or you have any questions.

1992 chevy lumina euro 3.1 while driving the engine acts like it is going to die then it regains power and then repeats the sluggish, lack of fuel .

check fuel pressure most likely bad fuel pump. also check your oil sending unit or gauge. chevys run the fuel relay to the oil pressure switch in case the oil is so low the car wont start. sometimes the relay in between this circuit goes bad as well. if all is well check or replace the ignition module (located directly under coils) or distributor integrated if it has a distributor

I have a 1995 Chevy Lumina with the ''Low Oil'' light on.

may be the oil sending unit is bad
may be the oil pump
is there any noise in the engine?
have the oil pressure check at a repair shop to make sure you have enough oil pressure
if it's ok then have the shop replace the switch while they have the old one out to check the pressure

1996 Chevy Lumina EGV Valve Replacement

I believe you mean the EGR valve

If this is a 3.1 Liter,..it's located on the drivers side, on top of the engine. It's bolted down with (2) bolts, mounted vertically, and has a wiring harness attached to the top of it. It has a black plastic top, circular in shape, about 4 inches tall. After removing it, invert to show underside & try cleaning the orifice (with the recessed screw) with a soft brass brush & carb' cleaner....to remove the carbon build-up which causes poor running & "service engine soon" light to display. If carefully removed, the gasket can be re-used,..if it gets damaged, one can be purchased at a automotive parts supply.

If you plan on doing a lot of your own work on this van, I suggest buying a Haynes or a Chilton Manual from a local car parts store for you van, they can give you instructions on everything
