Common problem, a small switch in the door lock breaks and does not activate the lock, all works from the key not remote, driver door recognises door not locked will unlock all doors, to repair you have to replace drivers door lock or just live with the key, I do

When
Remote control added or replaced. System malfunction.
How
Obtain all remote controls. A maximum of 3 remote controls can be programmed. Switch ignition ON. Repeat procedure below 3 times: Within 4 seconds: Press lock or unlock button. Within 4 seconds: Switch ignition OFF. Within 4 seconds: Switch ignition ON. Within 4 seconds: Press lock or unlock button. System should now lock or unlock vehicle. Within 4 seconds: Press lock or unlock button. Within 10 seconds: Press lock or unlock button of first remote control. System should now lock or unlock vehicle. Remove key. Press and release driver's door courtesy light switch 3 times. Ensure doors lock and unlock. If not, wait 40 seconds and repeat procedure starting with driver's door already open. Press each remote control lock or unlock button twice. Ensure doors lock and unlock after each remote control operation. If not, proceed as follows: Press and release driver's door courtesy light switch once. Ensure doors lock and unlock twice. Repeat procedure starting with driver's door already open.
NOTE: A maximum of 3 remote controls can be programmed.

this usually happens when the battery has been disconnected from the vehicle, what happens is when the battery is disconnected the locking system fitted to the car has a pass-code that only the key-fob can access, as a result of the battery being removed the pass-code for the locking system on the car resets and does not recognise the fob being used. Your best chance to get this sorted is to take it into your local garage/dealer and get the fob linked back up to the cars locking system.

You must reset your remote control in order for the lock/unlock to work properly.

To reset remote you would:
1)Insert Key in Ignition Turn to Position 1(Don't Start the Engine) for about 5 seconds
2)Turn Key Off and HOLD the LOCK button on Remote while pressing the UNLOCK 3 TIMES
3)Release both lock and unlock buttons you are holding
4)All doors should automatically unlock

And exit the door and lock with the Remote.

hello it sounds like you have a loose block conector in side the o/s/f a post.

hello mate.. if it has stopped working you might want to check the battery first.. if you are sure that the battery is fine then consider reprogramming the fob to your car.. here are the steps to follow.. NISSAN

Remote Control Fob Procedures:

The Central Door locking is controlled by the Multi-Remote Control system which controls
the door locking, door super locking and emergency hazard reminders.

When the doors are locked and unlocked the unit flashes the hazard lights once for lock and twice for unlock.

A maximum of four remote controls are allowed to be programmed:

ALMERA
ALMERA TINO
PRIMERA
MAXIMA
MICRA
SERENA
VANETTE CARGO
TERANO II

Ensure all the doors have been unlocked, either by using a good transponder key or remote
control plip key.

Procedure:
1. Turn the ignition switch from Position 0 to ON 6 times within 10 seconds.
2. Next, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave key in ignition switch.
3. Wait 2 seconds then the system will enter programming mode and will flash the warning
lights twice.
4. Press and HOLD the unlock button on the Plip.
5. While pressing the unlock button, press the lock button 3 times.
6. Release the unlock button.
7. The warning lights will flash once to indicate successful programming.
8. Repeat procedure 4 to 7 for up to 4 plip key's.
9. When completed turn ignition ON, and the warning lights will flash 2 times.
10. Remove key, and check all plip key's for operation.
NOTE : The programming mode will stop when either the ignition is switch ON, 4 plip keys
have been programmed or no input signal either from the switch or plip keys has been received
for 120 seconds.
