Have tranny serviced . Check tranny fluid level fill with HONDA ONLY fluid. If not fixed have fluid drained and filter replaced on tranny

Ok, this still might be the problem. Check out this service bulletin from Honda.

    Aftermarket Devices Can

    Cause A/T DTC P1705

If an aftermarket security system, starter cutoff

device, or remote starter is plugged into the starter

cut relay circuit on an A/T-equipped '96-02

Accord or '98-03 Civic, or a '98-03 Odyssey or '03

Pilot, the PCM could "think" the A/T is in two

gears at the same time and set A/T DTC P1705

[transmission range switch (short to ground)].

Before you troubleshoot for this DTC, make sure

you've unplugged all aftermarket devices from the

    starter cut relay circuit.

P1705: Short in Transmission Range Switch Circuit.
So you changed the switch but didn't fix the short in the circuit. Check the wiring harness or connector for a short. Follow the harness and look for chaffed insulation or rubbing.

I have a 2001 Honda Civic that did not pass emissions test. My

A. DTC P1705: Short in Transmission Range Switch (TRS) Circuit. The TRS lights the A/T gear position indicator in the instrument panel shows which gear has been selected.

The PCM also uses this information in order to manage the fuel system for maximum efficiency. The most obvious symptom you will see is the A/T gear position indicator lights will not come on or come on in the wrong position.

Once this is repaired emissions should pass

I need a manuel for a 2001 honda civic lx , 1.7 liter automatic, the maintenance required light is on and it gave a code of 1298 ? eld or something but it seems to be running find . is it ok to still...

if its the maintence light then it will come on to let you know the emission system should be checked to make sure its working properly.if you take it to a shop they can reset the light for you as if there was a problem with the emission system then the check engine light would have come on and there would be a code set in the ecm for the circuit that the problem is in.its safe to drive this just make sure you get the light reset.

What do you by mean p1705 what is the solution to fix it . and also the dash bord light is off

P1705 Short in Transmission Range Switch Circuit code is usually as a result of a bad transmission but have a transmission shop knowledgeable in Honda transmissions look at it .

As far as the dash lights, I would recommend that you check the fuse panel and if the issue is not there then the dimmer switch is faulty.

When i start my 2001 civic lx there is a clicking sound coming from the passenger side dash and engine light goes on and off. after it stops the car doesn't run right.

Check engine light usually means a problem with the
emissions control system. At any rate Honda is your
best bet. They will have to hook up and look for fault
codes. Clicking sound could be a relay.

Maintanence light is on

If the check engine light is on, Have the engine codes read to find out what's going on. Most large parts stores will scan for codes for free, and tell u what could be wrong when they get the codes off the cars computer.
