Get a OBD2 reader from the auto parts store, ($70). Plug it into the OBD2 port under the steering wheel. Read the fault codes. write them down. Clear all faults. Car should start. Get a book or ask a mechanic what the codes mean and the corrective action. most likely it will happen again. Could be as simple as a bad or intermittent connection. Good luck

I wnet out of gas on my VW Beetle 2001 last saturday. When I added gas to the tank, the car wouldn't start and the EPC light went on and I haven't been able to get it to start ever since. Would the EPC light have anything to do with the gas pump or anything related to running out of gas?

1999 GL New Beetle wouldn't start at 7:30am after parking it at 11:30pm the night before. New battery two days ago. All dash lights came on. Was cold last night, but mechanic was able to start it yesterday...

Sounds like high resistance in the starter circuit wiring. You should check resistance between the starter and battery, with the battery DISCONNECTED, and ensure that the number is pretty low anything more than a few ohms is too high for this connection.

Serious Electrical Issues

your clicking noise is from a bad turn signal switch get that replaced and it will fix the problem. as for the battery drain issue you need to take it to a dealer or a very good mechanic that has dealt with VW before and have them do a parasitic draw test. that means their is a source that is pulling amperage from your battery even though the key is off.
