2002 GMC Savana van inner door latch broken

The black inner door latch for the rear set of dutch doors in my 2002 GMC Savana 1500 van is broken. It is the left hand door, and it can't be opened if this latch is broken. Now the left hand side door has done the same thing, and I can't fully open either set of double doors on this damn van! It is just a black latch on the inside of the left hand dutch door....I know the interior door panel must be taken off to access the latch, but what else do I need to know?

You can pick up the handle from your local GMC dealer. I paid roughly $90 for both (a bit high...but money well spent!) As noted, yes; you do have to remove the interior door panel. From there it's just a matter of removing 4 nuts (metric #10 socket), and replacing them back once the new handle is slipped into place! The bars that operate the door latches simply snap into the plastic clips attached to the handle assembly.
The operation sounds worse then what it really is. It took me longer to write up this review than it did to actually do the work! 5 minutes max...done!! Hell, if you're local; buy the parts

remove the inner door panel then disconnect the arms that run from the outside door handle, the inner door handle, the door lock mechanism, from each unit. then undo the 3 bolts/screws on the end of the door to remove the door latch assembly.

2008 GMC 2500 Cargo Van Dash keeps sayin lr door is open and it is not!!! Driving me crazy!!

the latch in the left rear door is either bad or stuck, open door, then with a screwdriver, rock latches in door to simulate closed. release with exterior handle. spray lubricant (WD40) into latches and continue to exercise the latch. if this quick fix does not work, then a new latch for this door may be needed.

My gmc savana sliding door won't close completely

This one is kind of tricky,Theres alot moving part here.Theres 2 stricker plates,2 door latches front an rear, upper and lower roller guides, not enculding the door handle with all the linkage inside the door and several adjusting points.Don't know where to start with out looking at it,but a good body shop where you live should.Might be simple as a adjustment.

How do you remove the rear side door panel to

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls

Can I change dutch doors to regular door on the rear 95 Safari

your best bet is to get dutcht doors from a junkyard and replace them because putting the regular doors you might have problems with the alighment of the doors with the latches. good luck let me know how it went.
