Something in my fuel pump is draining my battery and the van wont start. Meaning this I charge up the battery to start the van and the van will turn over but not fire (start) I replaced the fuel pump and still no luck starting the engine. I notice that when I step on the fuel pedal it seems to put a drain on the battery. The other symptom that it had making me believe it was the fuel pump is that before the van quit working as I stepped on the gas to accelerate the van slowed down until it wouldnt run anymore. What could this be?

Could be a bad ( tps ) sensor it registers the amount of pedal you give it so it knows how much fuel to give the engine if the starting volts are not where they should be it won't start.

98 ford windstar van ran out of gas and now wont start even after refueling.

To review - - the fuel pump in the tank pumps fuel to the injectors.
There is a fuel shut-off which works in a wreck to prevent a fire.
If the plunger is down, the switch is on. Normal.

It is possible the fuel lines are full of air which would take a long time to purge by cranking the engine. Sometimes you have to use starting fluid or other means to "run" the engine long enough to get gas back into the injectors.
As long as the engine cranks, the battery is fine.
It is also possible the pump was damaged when the tank was run empty. The pump uses liquid fuel to cool and lubricate the electric pump. It can overheat when running the tank below 1/4 full.
It is also possible the fuel filter was clogged with junk from the bottom of the tank.
I would get someone to check for fuel pressure at the injectors and try some carb cleaner or starting fluid in the intake hose next.

98 vt comodore turns over but wont start

It could be the bcm or the key needs recoding to the immobiliser I had the same problem or it most likely is the crank angle sensor's not sending any information through to the spark plugs rendering your car as useful as a crayboat anchor

Where do I apply starter fluid in my dodge caravan? My Van starts with the lights and battery working, but the enging wont start wnen i turn the key. I bought starter fluid, but am not quite sure where to...

Please restate your problem, or confirm what I think is your problem from the following-

1) Your headlights work OK meaning the battery is charged.
2) The engine turns over with the key, but will not start.

If both conditions above are correct, then toyotech6 is very likely right. And if the engine starts but does not continue running, then be suspect of the fuel pump or fuel filter (assuming the gas tank has sufficient gas in it.). If it does not start, then be suspect of a failed igniton module or other probelm. You'll need a scan tool to find the problem.

1993 Chevy Astro Mini Van not starting

if your mini van has a 4.3 litre engine v6, when you turn the key on you should be able to hear the electric fuel pump start. the fuel pump is inside the gas tank,if you hear the pump you might want to change the fuel filter. The thing about computerized engines and a throttlebody is that you need a fully charged battery to start work with.
